Enjoy day 2 more than day 1 of the draft?

I am a sucker for draft sliders and feel like most of that happens on day 2. Great college players that slide due to measureables, athleticism, etc...

Some of my favorite Cowboys picks have been guys like JLew, Chido, Diggs (pre injury), Tank, Lee etc...

I could see guys like Ponds, Rivers, Woods, erc falling.

I do not like the 3 day format.
As yes day 2 seems more interesting as to players sliding. And more trades.

I hate round one all on its own night.
I wish the go back to the 2 day format when they had 12 rounds.
They could easily do it now. Saturday rounds 1 through 4 and Sunday rounds 4 through 7.

But they want commercials which amount to more time than the spend on the draft.

Which is why the last several years I went to a bar to watch with friends. Thursday and Friday nights.

But with 2 first round picks, I will stay home Thursday most likely. If only 1 pick on Friday I will go out.

I enjoy it just as much as round 1. This year it may be hard because Dallas has nothing until pick 92.

One guy I’ll be watching will be D’Angelo Ponds. Man, I so like the way that guy plays. Literally, he has everything you could want except for height.

I hope Dallas might find a way but I just don’t think they’ll take a guy that short. They did bring him in for a 30 visit, so I do have some hope that Christian Parker might have talked some sense into the Cowboys front office.

Ponds is the kind if dog we need in the mold of JLew.

You like Rivers?

I just love the draft all three days, it is one of my favorite sporting events annually for as long as I can remember. Only a Dallas deep run in the playoffs and Super Bowl win is more exciting to me, I really enjoy the draft. I am always looking for blue chippers in the first and value picks later on in every round and of course those diamonds in the rough that can be found late, Jay Ratliff in the 7th it can happen.

In the first I want Caleb Downs and Jacob Rodrigeuz. In the 3rd round I would go with Keionte Scott CB Miami or Treydan Stukes CB Arizona. Day 3 I am looking for an offensive tackle in the 4th I would go with Caleb Tiernan Northwestern or Jude Bowry Boston College both are big tackles who can pass block and run block. In the 5th round Dallas has 3 picks I would go with Kyle Louis inside linebacker Pitt he would be interesting in the nickel as a LB/ S player I believe. Max Llewellyn Edge Iowa is a heck of a football player and would be hard to pass up here. With the last 5th I would go with Lander Barton linebacker Utah he has some size at 6-5 240 this would be good value here. With the 7th rounder I will go with CJ Donaldson running back Ohio state he is a big back 6-2 232 who also played for my college team West Virginia.

That's how I feel about watching the draft too. The draft has actually been the highlight of the year for the last 30 years. My wife likes it too, but she doesn't get as indebted as I do, she doesn't have to since I just inform her on things anyway. I actually schedule vacation days from work around the draft...that way I can have a few more beers more than normal and then sleep late and get ready for day 2! Rookie FA signings are important too.

We are very much alike I will not miss one second of the draft and I love me some cold beers with the draft as well.

Yes, every second for sure. So much so that I can remember just about every player selected from every team. I got a habit of reading the bottom line over and over...damn, I'm a total football nerd.

Considering recent history, no. I don't enjoy day #2 more.

The 21st century Cowboys have made their most ridiculous reaches in day#2. That is, if they haven't already decided on someone rehabilitating after major surgery that "would have been drafted in the first round, if only for......".

From 2000 to 2025, they drafted 51 players on day #2. The only player to make a long term impact on this team is Jason Witten, perhaps DeMarcus Lawrence and DeMarco Murray to a lesser degree.

And, yet this is where the Cowboys must be successful if they are to retain good talent with a healthy cap.

The 2nd and 3rd round picks are supposed to careers with a reasonable amount of seasons as a starter.

The Cowboys had a total of 11 players that were day #2 picks by them on last season's roster. Only three of them started more than half the games and the one that started the most games was Osa with 13.

I believe that the decisions made on day #2 determine championships.

I am a Dallas Cowboys fanatic always have been since 1973. I just love to watch how Dallas goes about drafting new players for this team. I am very much a football nerd as well. I like Christian Parker and I am interested in who is picked for his defensive scheme in this draft, we will learn what kind of players that he covets. I can't wait to see which players they pick for this 3-4 base defense.

Would be happy if we had a 2nd round pick

I've been a fanatic since 1978. I used to get the Dallas Cowboys Weekly newspaper, and I'd read it over and over again until the next edition would arrive a week later. There was always a double page pullout of a player that I would put up on the wall.
I like Parker as well, so far, he is a breath of fresh air and if he can come in and be a factor like Clayton Adams was than the future is bright. When it comes to the draft this year and giving what Parker needs for his vision, I'm looking at players that are high character, high IQ, and players that are versatile. Downs would be a nice fit, but I just don't see him being on the board at 12. But Thieneman will be and I think he is perfect for Parker in terms of being able to play single high, in the slot and in the box. With the nickel basically being the base defense, I can see LB not being as important as it used to be, and Thieneman playing in the box alongside with Overshown...of course traditional MLB is needed, and I hope we somehow make a deal for Brookes from Miami. Alot of fans are down on Keldric Faulk, but I'm not one. I think Faulk fits into what Parker wants in a player ...High character, team captain and leads by example. This is a 20 year old kid who gave some of his NIL money to a walk on teammate....He puts his team mates first.. I don't' care about his 2025 stats, for his 2024 stats show what he is capable of as a 19 year old playing against SEC OT's. Faulk is not the twitchiest or most explosive off the snap, but he can push the pocket and win with his hands and of course is very good against the run. He has the versatility to play the 5t, 3t, 4I and at times a stand-up edge. He is more athletic than what people think...He can come in as a rookie and give you considerable snaps, and after two years in an NFL weight room and NFL coaching on technique and on hand usage and we can be looking at Calais Campbell 2.0
