Does anyone else's town have a poor stoplight system?

The one in Shreveport, LA is a freaking mess. Almost makes me want to move. There's this one intersection where the light system is set up the totally opposite way of how it should be. The street with the least amount of traffic gets the longest light. I work part-time for a courier company so every day on my way back to the office I get stopped by this light and sit there for 2-3 minutes while nothing is coming. Does anyone know who I can get in touch with about fixing this problem?

1fisher doesn't have to worry about that in Poedunkville. They don't have a street big enough for a stop light. The welcome to and now leaving signs are on the same post. :laugh2:

the State would be my best guess

I think it's up to the city to plan their own. I remember talking about this in civics class in highschool. I told the teacher where I planned to go to college and she said "Oh no, that's not a good school. Their engineers are responsible for the design of this traffic light system." She was right about it being a bad school. I was out of there in less than a year. I won't name it, but I will tell you it's not LSU.

Know what will piss you off more?

Go to that intersection at like 3AM. I bet you don't wait at all.

I've been to towns where their systems suck so bad in the day but at night they actually use the little camera things on top of the poles and you rarely have to wait.

The quicker people get from Point A to Point B the better. Sitting in traffic needlessly keeps people from getting things done, like making money that they can spend in the economy. Common sense when you think about it. It also burns gas, which makes more gas get consumed, higher prices, more pollution, etc.

Yes, my town (which isn't small) put in a stupid light on a busy road that's sole purpose is to let cars turn into a MIDAS, or a storage facility. Maybe 50 cars each all day. The stupid thing is there was a middle lane already for making turns from either side of the road. Now with the light instead of being able to turn when there is an opening you have to wait for the light. And everyone else has to stop for the stupid light (which is way too long) so that one car can turn because they had to wait for the light.

We have several stupid lights like that, and they keep throwing up more. It's like their objective is to cause more congestion.

That's really dumb. Maybe they had a few wrecks there?

Nope, it's a pretty flat road with good visibility. Plenty of gaps in traffic to make the turns easily. They first installed it when they did some construction. It was useful while they were doing the construction, but then they made it permanent and it's just been ******** ever since.
