Does anyone know if he can return from IR? He injured his knee last year and this year in camp during conditioning and he's been on IR pretty much his entire time here after starting 4 years at LT for Clemson. He must be pretty legit for them to keep him...they keep bringing him back in.

Doubt it. He was a Developmental player to begin with. Best thing for him and the cowboys is probably to stash him on the injured list for the entire season. If he gets activated has he shown anything to warrant a roster spot anyways? Him getting activated means the cowboys probably have to cut him.

regardless if he was available or not , wouldn't matter he and Ball will have to show up in the offseason camps and practice before they ever will get chosen over TS, Steele, and TY N , thats the pecking order for now..

Thanks for the responses I was just looking at the roster and saw how they have him stashed on IR. If the fill-ins for Smith continue to get dusted like Steele did last Sunday he could maybe do better than someone they sign off of the street if he was eligible to come off of IR...

I think he gets one more offseason to show the team if he can play in the NFL. Dallas has two young tackles in Hyatt and Ball that they need to get a better look at to determine just how high of a need offensive tackle is in next year’s draft.

I think they've been keeping him because he has good movement skills and technique and seems to be an intelligent player. No reason for an injury settlement if he can possibly develop into depth.

Why they haven't kicked the tires on David Decastro is beyond logic. I think he could come in and start next to Martin, in either direction.

If I recall correctly he was going to have surgery for his bone spursafter the Steelers cut him. Yet I haven't seen anything at all about recovery or anything. He did say he would rather retire depending on recovery/pain management

I wouldn't assume that. He's a developmental player who we retain the rights to. Doesn't cost us a roster spot. We keep the rights unless he shows nothing. Why throw them away?

The knock on him when he came in was lack of strength. Should be lots stronger after years in the Cowboys' training program.

He is out for the Year on IR, sorry to say he could not perform in preseason against backups , he is not ready yet ….
