If you look at Emmitt's playoff numbers they are pretty darn good:
349 att, 1586 yards, 4.54 avg, 19 TDs, 46 rec, 342 yards, 2 TDs
Not bad for 17 games that included 7 100-yard games, 2 of them were in SBs, plus 2 99-yard games. He was better in the playoffs than in the regular season.
Compare those with Barry Sanders:
91 att, 386 yards, 4.34 avg, 1 TD, 21 rec, 111 yards, 0 TDs.
He was significantly worse in the playoffs with only 1 100-yard game out of 6 and none others over 70 yards. He also had one game with -1 yard (minus-one) rushing on 13 carries vs the Packers in 1994.
Emmitt's worst day was against the same Packers in 1994 when he had 44 yards on 7 carries but that was a 6.3 yard average. If I recall he got hurt a bit and came out since we were well ahead at the time.
Walter Payton's playoff numbers are:
180 att, 632 yards, 3.51 avg, 2 TDs, 22 rec, 178 yards, 0 TDs
In 9 playoff games Walter had only 1 100-yard game (104 vs the Commanders in 1984) but came close with 2 other games over 90 yards. In the 1985 SB he got 61 yards on 22 carries, a 2.8 yard avg.
Emmitt's SB numbers are:
3 games, 70 att, 289 yards, 4.13 avg, 5 TDs.
Not great numbers but his game vs the Steelers brings them down (18 att, 49 yards, 2.7 avg, 2 TDs).
Just a little comparison for ya.
