If the decision was made to hire an OC, do you guys think Mike Martz would be a good fit? Just think about it for a minute, look at how well he used Forte, and we have Murray, who has elite talent and isnt that different from Forte. Jay Cutler was playing very well under Martz, and Romo is better than Cutler. Its a hard thing to imagine, just curious about some opinions

No, Martz offenses leave the QB vulnerable to hits. Romo wouldn't last 4 games in that offense even with upgrades to the OL

You don't watch a lot of football, do you?

No way is Martz a good fit here. He is a control freak and would be a problem for Garrett from day one. Also as a HC I saw him try to end. Kurt Warner's career by sending him back into a game against the Giants with a serious concussion to be sacked over and over. If you saw it you will always remember. The guy is an evil genius but is dangerous for this or any other team IMO.

If you thought Air Garrett was bad, you'll pull your hair out with Mike Martz Express.

It seems like every couple of years someone on here posts the question of should we bring in Mike Martz or would Mike Martz fit here.

The question you should ask yourself, in order to answer your first question is, why is he always available every couple of years.

Thanks,
Mickey.

I joke about the thanks Mickey line but one really does need to ask that question with Martz and it answers any question about possibly bringing him in.

Martz fielded a very effective offense in Chicago with maybe the worst set of starting WRs in the NFL.

Martz adapted and built the offense around Matt Forte.

I think it would be foolish to think that Mike Martz could make a ton of hay with Witten, Bryant, Austin, Robinsin, Murray, Felix Jones, and company.

I for one, would be beyond excited to have him in Dallas.

MArtz is terrible but if the choice is between him and Garrett than give me Martz.

Yeah he's a great fit.

If you like your QB throwing 40 or 50 passes a game and just giving up on the run game all together.

Cutler was great this year, and I think his talent made the offense and Martz look better. Martz hasn't directed a top 10 offense since 2004. That doesn't sound like a guy who would help us. I listen to Chicago sports talk radio, and from all accounts Martz is a very unlikeable guy. They're thrilled to have him gone.

Martz would be a perfect fit for the Cowboys.

He doesn't believe in pass protection, prefering the QB make a quick read and hit the open man.

The Cowboys don't pass protect, even when trying...it's a perfect marriage.

If Jerry did hire him we'd need a much better backup than McGee because he'll be playing by week 3 when Romo gets put on IR.
