Absolutely he does.

Crayton is a good player and all but Austin has the upside and the potential to make our offense more dynamic.

Crayton is a good 2nd receiver but a great 3rd receiver.

The problem is does Austin know the differences from being a Z instead of an X?

Or do they want to make the big leap and use Roy as the Z and Austin as the X receiver?

Either way I think he has to start and I think we just need to get the ball in his hands because he is such a tough player to bring down.

Without a doubt. His speed alone will open things up a bit. No one fears Crayton, but after yesterday, D Coordinators will have to spend at least a few minutes on Austin.

I've advocated this notion for a while now and even got a thread deleted on me last week for the same reason.

My thing is, even if Crayton was more productive, I'd still want Austin to start because of the deep threat and the extra spacing he can create for our offense so Roy, the TEs and the RBs can do more work. Most of Crayton's catches come in the slot anyways and not when he's flanked.

Now, with Austin's recent production and his big play potential, it's a no-brainer. Picture us incorporating Austin in the offense, and then Felix coming back. Championship!!!!:D

It's his job until he loses it. Nobody is untouchable in a starters role. You suck, you sit. You perform, you play.

Personally, I'd look at starting R Williams and Austin. I think Austin can scare opposing defenses more than Crayton, though Crayton is probably more steady and consistent at this stage. But I think Austin's big play ability is a better match along side R Williams. And I'd use Crayton in the slot - a role I think he plays well.

Considering the last couple weeks with Roy/Crayton starting it's looked like nobody was even coming close to getting open most plays, and this week Austin set the franchise record for rec yards I'd say he should be starting. I know we traded a bunch of picks for him, but if any receiver should be getting demoted to 3rd, it should probably be Roy Williams, not even Crayton.

Sad but true.

Undeniably.

Crayton is just a guy. Austin has real potential.

Austin should've been out there all along. It's so frustrating to see our idiotic coaches make the same mistakes again and again. Crayton over Austin, MBIII over Choice and Jones, Henry over Jenkins.

It wasn't like Austin was just getting himself wide open yesterday.

A lot of times he had someone draped on him and he just broke loose because they couldn't bring him down.

He did burn the corner on the play where Romo overthrew him though.

I think he should be playing more! I agree that no one really fears Crayton. there are things Crayton is good at but not punt returns or a # 1 reciever.
I hope the coaches don't sit on talent that needs to be honed and sharpened!
We have some great young players with talent that is begining to show..lets keep it moving in the right Direction.

I've been a huge Austin fan ever since I saw him catch a bomb from Romo in a 2006 pre season game vs. NO. He was wearing #14 then. He's shown flashes against GB last year... vs. AZ last year.. (beautiful back shoulder fade from Romo for a TD) and other games.

MILES AUSTIN HAS THE BEST COMBO OF FEET AND HANDS ON OUR TEAM!!

He absolutely needs to start... the way Romo was looking for him.. that's trust! We left 3 TD's on the field even.

Yes ... Yes Yes...

Put crayton in the slot... give Ogletree some reps while your at it. Sam Hurd as been a slight dissapointment to this point.

The Cowboys are better off having Austin playing 2nd WR and Crayton holding down the 3rd.

I didnt see the game. Saw some clips of his catches and almost catches. That one going into the end zone reminded me of a similar catch that TO made years ago for us by tipping the ball back to himself while extending himself.

My question is: How are his hands? Seems he should catch more than he has. He needs to learn to catch the ball better. He needs to "snatch" the ball and it doesnt seem like he does. Can that be taught. I know he is somewhat raw and up and coming as a WR.

What are the projections/thoughts on Austin?

Thanks
