If a defense could get him going sideways he was done. He was always frustrating to watch. One run could go for 30 yards and the next five could go for -2 yards...
...The problem was he kept putting them in 2nd and 13. I liked Hershel a lot, but he was an overrated back.

Gee wiz, this could apply to....Barry Sanders. The 1st ballot HOFamer. Another over rated back I'll assume. Hersh wins the Heisman, rushes for 1500, rushes for 750 and catches 750, returns kicks, hauls in a boat load of picks, consumate athlete, and in the end....he's over rated.

I think the term over rated is, well, over rated. Or over used in this instance.

The problem is that Dorsett was just about the smoothest RB ever (perhaps tied with Eric Dickerson.) So he probably places somewhat unfair standards on other RBs. Nevertheless, his opinion is certainly worth hearing and I for one, love hearing a legend weighing in on the current state of affairs, as Dorsett has done recently with JJ.
I agree. It would be like Jim Brown trying to tell Dorsett how he should run. Every runner has different attributes. Trying to tell Hershel to run like Tony just doesn't work. But also, it's always nice to hear from the greats, I just wouldn't suggest Julius to put much creedance in him.
