Last week, our high-powered offense, loaded with pro bowl talent, spit the bit against our biggest rival in the division in a “win and in” game.
This week, in a cold, nasty rain, that rival, who has been in must win playoff mode for the past four weeks, went into that game with:
Back up RT
Back up rookie RB
Back TE and practice squad TE
Two practice squad WR’s and a rookie WR
During the game, they lost their back up RB and starting RG during the first half.
Their defense had two back ups at LB and the same at DB
They kicked the crap out of a division rival in a game that meant everything for the post season.
Why? How can a team with such lesser talent win when it counts but we can’t?
Coaching is the big difference. The Eagles coaching staff at least gives their players a chance, thanks to intelligent schemes, adjustments, and clever, well-designed variations on offense. They somehow take back up and practice squad talent and wins when it matters. Yes, you can’t do that forever, and overall injuries/lesser players will hurt them in the playoffs. They will most likely lose next week, maybe lose ugly. But we didn’t even make the playoffs with our superior talent.
I honestly believe that Doug Pederson would have won eleven games with this team.
