In Jerrys defense, the Cowboys rookies have looked great so far esp with Dak and Zeke. In addition, the Cowboys have one of the most dramatic turnarounds in record. Finally, the Cowboys just opened the Star, which is one best practice facility in the NFL Does Jerry have a case for NFL executive of the year? Discuss if you wish, I just like reading the varying opinions. Go Cowboys!

What's the criteria for an executive vs a GM?

A GM is an executive. Usually that award goes to GMs or owners.

Jones won it in 2014. Al Davis has won it. Even Parcells won it one year as GM of the Dolphins.

Thanks. Was thinking they were in slightly different categories.

Lots of football left to play but through five games I don't see anyone who's done a better job.

The way he handles the QB situation will define whether or not he should be considered for such a great honor. The year is young and his staff has made all the right moves to this point. He still has some defining decisions to make though before the gray becomes clearer.

As much as it pains me to say it I would give it to the guy in philly. Being able to fix three years of the chip Kelly mess in one off-season and land your franchise QB was some damn good work

It will depend on how this season finishes out. On paper, we are a playoff team and we've had one of the strongest drafts. If we miss the playoffs again this year, then no. If we make it, then yes.

How about the luckiest so far. After all it could have been paxton lynch, conner cook, or others we were stuck with. But a little bit of faith and timing has Dak looking really good.

Thats kind of lame. The draft is almost always made up of taking your 3rd or 4th choice. More often than not your first choice is gone before your on the clock. Its not as if there wasnt significant interest in Dak the entire time. He was correctly identified as a target and we took him when he was the top qb left on our board. I think thats how its supposed to be done.

I can't play that game. Otherwise I'd have to question the luck factor with every pick after the first one.

The Patriots are geniuses for drafting Tim Brady. Yeah? Then why did they wait until the 6th round?

Get the QB decision right, Defense continues to play better, and we win the division...he probably is.

Jaylon gets on the field in week 14 or 15 and looks good....stone cold lock.

Lots of time left. IF Jerry goes back to Romo, he is rusty, we lose a couple games and miss the playoffs, he isnt winning anything.

Now if he sticks with Dak, we make the playoffs and win a game or two, that would probably do it. Especially if Dak and Zeke are 1 and 2 in the rookie of the year voting.
