I wanted it to happen like a year or two before Matt left. Oh well cant do nothing but think about what could of been kinda like with Sean and Zimmer.

Well... they did offer Eberflus the DC position and was willing to move Marinelli to an Asst. HC/Consultant position, but he said no.

the offer was made, but made too late. eberflus declined saying it was out of respect to marinelli, but i think he just wanted out of town.

They've really done well with their draft picks.

The only thing I see on their defense that Eberflus wouldn't have gotten here is DT DeForest Buckner (no way the Joneses trade a first-round pick for a DT) and DE Justin Houston (price is higher than we would have been willing to pay for an outside free agent).

Eberflus was never going to be the guy here and Dallas fans really just need to let it go.

Dallas tried to sweeten the deal by making Rod AHC and promoting Eberflus but the reality is that he would've just been running Rod's defense since he would be reporting to him. He wouldn't be able to install his stuff with his personnel. People often forget too that the Jones family wouldn't allow Eberflus to interview for the DC job in San Francisco, which is why he wouldn't sign an extension here. The media wants you to think he adored Rod because it's a good story and Eberflus is a good guy. All true. But a good old fashioned grudge is the reason he is in Indy now, which is where he stayed even after his buddy Josh McDaniels bailed on the HC job.

Dallas wanted Eberflus badly. He didn't want them.
