It's easy to predict a big draft day trade-up strategy for da Boys. Even more so with all our day-two picks ...
Of course the Q is: does Jerruh want to churn some, not trade up, and improve the overall roster and maybe find a longshot to boot ... ...
The churn may happen because Jerry has confidence in Ciskowski after Ciskowski's first excellent first solo run last year, featuring day-two picks Choice and Scandrick (only Erik Walden was a whiff on day two ...)
But ... Jerry can't stand being out of the action. Look at 2008 draft and don't you think he'll do a lot on draft day this year regardless. I predict though he'll go the other way this year, to get perceived quality over sheer number of picks ...
Draft day trades 2007:
- Trading our one pick to Cle (eventually B. Quinn) ...
- Trading our 2, 3, and 5 pick to Philly for Philly's one pick (we got A. Spencer)
- Trading something to move up in 7th round for Courtney Brown ...
Draft day trades 2008 eventful - wow:
- Move up for Felix: from 28 up to 25, (Seattle trade), we give up 5 and 7 picks.
- Move down: Our 3 pick for Lions' 4 pick and the Lions' 2009 4 pick.
- Move down: Our 4 pick for Raiders' 4 pick (moved down four spots in the fourth round) plus we got Raiders' 7 pick.
- Move down: Another of our 4 picks to Cle for their 4 pick (18 picks down) plus their 5 pick.
- Move "down" (for next year that is): Yet another of our 4 picks to Cle for their 3 pick in 2009
- Move up: for Scandrick (yes!), Jacksonville's 5 pick for our five and our seventh
Hypothetical: If you were GM, would you do a "credit card" draft every year? That is, give up your 1 next year (and change) for a 2 this year. Then next round, give up your 2 next year (and change) for a 3 this year ... etc. .. it seems like you would a year ahead of the pack ... on the other hand, this sounds like something Snyder would do ..
Just musing over a few beers, sorry, but it's my personal world record 10
days without alcohol until tonite ... prolly drank too much, so sorry if I missed any facts above ..
