...I didnt realize how big he is, until seeing some college clips. Reminds me of King Henry in younger suit.

Sorry. Mafah does not have Derrick Henry’s speed. He’s a big guy who will be fun to watch in TC and PS games. But expecting him to be the next Derrick Henry is a huge stretch.

The thing you have to be careful with about college film highlights is there are often plays shown against guys who would never be close to NFL caliber players. Not knocking Mafah, but he was a 7th round pick for several reasons.

Got to work on that stiff arm technique and he probably isn't as fast like bob said. There's only 1 king Henry but Mafah can create a name for himself. Prince Phil?

You get a better picture of the player if you watch some of his games. He's a bit slow out of the blocks, so he can get bottled up in the backfield. He's gonna have to work on hitting the hole a tad faster. But I think he can do it.

Overview

Mafah runs hard and keeps the carry on track. He is big and tight-hipped with a linear running style that gathers momentum as the run proceeds. He’s tough but clunky as an interior runner with a lack of vision and wiggle to find additional yards if there isn’t a wide-open lane. Mafah might need to prove himself on special teams to offer enough roster flexibility to make it as an RB3.

Strengths

  • Totes the rock in a linebacker-like frame.
  • Keeps runs on their track and rarely gets caught trying to do too much.
  • Follows blocks and steers them into contact before cutting.
  • Heavy behind his pads and wears tacklers down.
  • Accelerates through contact as a run finisher.

Weaknesses

  • Lacks initial quickness to get the run kicked off.
  • Tight-hipped with limited quickness in his cuts.
  • Unable to side-step defenders in smaller spaces.
  • Transmission lacks acceleration and gear shifts.
  • Doesn’t offer much in the passing game.

This won't be popular, but I didn't see anything that dropped my jaw. He clearly has good long speed and a nice change of direction step, but he is a bit slow on the acceleration and decision making when the hole isn't a mile wide.

I disagree on the lacks acceleration and gear shifts.

No. Now on to the next over-exaggeration about one of our draft picks.

Feel free to re-post this on my behalf when someone states they think Jay Toia reminds them of Vita Vea...

You would lol, but it's actually a fair comparison.

Here's Scarbrough's pros and cons before we drafted him:

Pros

  • Big, powerful, battering ram of a running back.
  • Decent speed in the open field.
  • Reliable pass protector.
  • Shows some ability as a pass catcher.
  • Good patience to set up his blocks.
  • Runs behind his pads and almost always falls forwards to pick up extra yardage
  • Surprisingly “low milage”. Fewer than 300 carries in 3 years at Alabama.

Cons

  • Needs a “runway” to get up to speed.
  • Not terribly quick in and out of his cuts, and can’t be creative behind the line of scrimmage.
  • Doesn’t have the acceleration to bounce runs outside or get the edge if an off-tackle run isn’t blocked well.
  • Significant injury history. Medical reports will be vital.

Some fans thought a lot of Scarbrough when we drafted him, just like some do with Mafah. Hopefully, the ending turns out better.

Not a good tape for him. He doesn’t lower his shoulder and plays really high. Looks slow at the college level and I doubt he adjusts well to nfl speed.

He’s 2 inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter than Henry.
