It really depends on his ability to move and handle pain and if there is high probability of worsening the condition.

there are also different variations of a herniated disc. You can have a herniated disc and not need surgery normally referred to as a slipped disc which is a minor herniation. If its major then yes he needs to go under the knife and season is done

Am I missing something? And i'm not being sarcastic but I thought he was done for the year? There's actually a shot he may play?

Everything thus far has been speculation to my knowledge. I think he gets a cortisol injection and plays this sunday.

The detail everyone is missing and has not been "leaked" is if its herniated, how badly, a minor herniation is slipped disc and can be managed a major herniation then yes it will definitely need surgery. Until we get details which I think will happen on Wednesday its all conjecture. I also think it depends on the risk of further damage if he will play on Sunday. Though if this game was to be played in Philly I would ay there is no chance he goes.

I posted this in another thread.

As someone who has had a herniated disc before, for Romo, i would say that it really depends on the severity of it.

Luckily for him he is a qb and not a defensive player. Making a tackle with a bad disc, ugh that hurts my back just thinking about it.

Romo will likely be put on a spinal decompression machine to help alleviate the pressure off of his disc. It's a short term solution that can help alleviate the pain and allow Romo to play.

But again this may depend on the severity. If those disc are too far gone, surgery will be required.

But I would not rule him out. I had limited treatment for my back due to my lack of funds but yet I was still able to treat my back effectively. But Romo has unlimited access to the best spinal therapy machines and doctors in the world. If he's not able to go on Sunday, we will know that it was really bad and he probably should not have finished that game against the Commanders.

But if I had to bet, I would say that he will play. We shall see.

Yes he will play.. We have seen him play with serious injuries in early season games in the past, & now we are in the position to win and get in the dance, there is no way they will be able to keep him from playing.

Yep. He felt fine after the game and he's a warrior. He'll put off surgery and play.

Yes he'll play.

This is all a publicity stunt to fire everyone up.

Heck he finished the game Sunday.
