Never seem him write much that makes sense. If you read his postings you'd think everything is too expensive and we should keep what we have for the most part. I think he is a firm believer in the "devil you know" instead of thinking that maybe there is some greener grass on the other side of the fence. I just go nuts reading the dialogue that he comes up with because year after year it all sounds the same.

PS. Go back and read what he wrote last year about the Cowboy free agents. Most of that was wrong as well. Be nice if he would go out on a limb and say we need to sign blank, because signing blank will make the team better. Instead he always says we can't afford blank as blank costs to much and we gotta sign our own under performing players instead. I mean from Micky's point of view, isn't our own guy who knows our system better then some guy who doesn't know our system. I mean if Micky's point of view if the other fellow was really good he wouldn't be a free agent anyway because his own team would have kept him. Therefor the other guy really is garbage and our own garbage is better then another teams garbage.

Ok. Off the ledge. Hope we sign someone next week and Micky shuts up for a change.

Mickey means well, and is a good guy, but he's a company man. Jerry has been paying his bills for years, so it's understandable why Mick defends Jerry so much.

I don't agree with Spagnola very much; his understanding of football is minimal, and he seems to overrate the talent on the Cowboys.

Actually, Spags is one of my favorite writers. You need to remeber thaqt he is a commentator, not an expert of a fooball insider, so I give him slack if his opinions are wrong (most experts' opinions are equally wrong). But I DO like Spags' writing because I think he comes from an honest and objective place, and I think his points - right or wrong - are well argued and very thought throgh.

Now that's where you're wrong. If Mickey disagrees with something going on he'll tell his opinion. What I think makes his writing so good is that he's NOT a company man and therefore does not feel the pressure to be.

Respectfully disagree with you.

naaa, if you peruse other boards, take a look at the eagles board and read Spadaro, which is their version of Spags....he's the one that spit on the star when they played here at the palace the first season...pure d-bag

Mickey used to be a hell of a lot bigger homer than he is now.

You can't really expect objectivity from Mickey because Jerry signs his checks. If it were any of us we would do the same.

I'm very familiar with Spadaro, living in the area all my life. He's super annoying but at least he can talk draft in December like a semi-informed fan.

I don't know that there's a writer covering the league as lazy and uninformed as Spagnola.

Another terrible writer - Nick Eatman.

Honestly, that whole website is awful. I'll take the DMN or ESPNDallas anyday.

I agree that Spags seems uninformed a lot of the time, or at least less knowledgeable than many writers, but the think I like about him is he at least seems to LIKE the team! I get so sick of all the DMN and ESPNDallas guys who seem to just hate the team and look for chances to bash it all the time. Mickey sounds like a fan, and that makes him okay in my book! ;)

There is a certain part of me that finds him endearing because of simple familiarity with him being with the organization so long.

However, Spags is useful to me for one thing: insider anecdotes from coaches, personel or players.

Otherwise, he's pretty much clueless in terms of game analysis, player evaluation and knowledge of the game.

"So, Mick, what do you think about Peyton Manning?"

"OK, how about Mario Williams?"

"Carl Nicks?"

He actually said something similar about Brandon Carr last week. I guess Reggie White stunk too then, eh?

I can't stand him on the radio show they do on the teams website. So very annoying.
