With the Cowboy Defense taking a huge step back this season, does the unit need to be totally rebuilt?

The team has several players up for fa:

Bennett, Quinn, Collins, Woods, Lee, Bryon, Brown, Heath

It is quite possible that everyone on this list could be playing elsewhere in 2020. With so much turnover and a possible new DC, this would be the ideal time to begin the rebuilding process. Depending on who is coaching next season, they won't be forced to play a specific scheme.

Yes, meet to get stout DT/ NT and a Saftey that can cover.

Where do we get the replacement players from? I would try to keep guys that are affordable. Make an attempt to sign Quinn and Bennett to team friendly deals if possible. Byron just isn't worth the money he's going to command on the open market.

Not enough sacks and turnovers. Yes. Look no further than the Steelers. That d keeps them in games despite their terrible qbs. Also they have about the same record is the Cowboys. We’d be doomed without Dak. Way better pass rush and they still invested in a a top safety. I would’ve loved Diggs who went to Seattle.

Off subject but..I see back ups like the Lions qbs making plays and I just know for a fact our back ups have never done anything close to that lol

Patriots are paying Jamie Collins and Danny Shelton 2 mill each this season. What a deal. But we like our guys. There is not a team that can’t run on this defense. Zero investment in DTs will do that.

A new coach / scheme will fix the majority of the issues..a few new players are needed as well

The entire defense is suspect. Interior of the defensive line needs to be upgraded, the LBers need to be addressed as Jaylon is terrible, Lee is getting up there in age and LVE is having injury issues and the secondary is bad.

There are some serious talent deficiencies on this team that won’t be fixed by simply changing coaches.
