Does the Revis trade impact our draft?

I was listening to NFL radio this afternoon. Kirwin thought that the Jets trading Revis could put a wrench in our plans to draft Oline in the first round. Kirwin thought that the Jets would take DJ Fluker and then we would opt for defensive line. Obviously, he thought that both the coveted guards would be gone anyway....

I would be highly disappointed by this. Anyone else seeing this being a problem for us?

There is no way in hell that anyone can predict how this draft goes. There is not a person on this earth that can tell what any of the 32 teams need, so a trade here or there does not predict anything.

It could help. At 13 they could look at Geno Smith or Matt Barkley.

That would be great. I would welcome that.

How can they NOT? Sanchez is horrible and with one more bad season Rex Ryan is on the unemployment line.

I really figured it would be minimal impact. I can't believe the the Jets won't go DB with one of those picks. I think Hayden is rising up so that he'll be taken before Dallas drafts.

i don't see the trade impacting us in any negative way at all. if the replace revis thats good for us. if they replace sanchez thats good for us. don't see how the trade could effect the two top guards at all

Barkley/Sanchez dynamic duo

That would be a lot like the disaster Oakland has this season with Palmer and Leinert. Eerily similar, actually.

Well, it might drive them down a spot if the Jets went any position other than guard with the pick.

Buffalo either is taking their qb at 8, trading back with someone in the teens or have an agreement to trade back in the late teens or early 20's.

They have Kolb and Jackson. They are committed to getting a qb. They are going to do what is necessary to get the guy they want which I think is either Nassib, Manuel or Barkley.

I think the Jets will take Vaccaro or Eifert at 13.

Or they could take Xavier Rhodes as a direct replacement for Revis

I think it helps us out because Tampa prolly would've went best available DT which could be either Star, Floyd or Richardson and with them out now we can still have good options on the board.

It helps our draft. It means a CB will be available for another team to pick, perhaps Miami or Tennessee, which pushes someone else down.

I'm not following you. The Jets now have the Bucs first rounder at 13. They are just as likely to pick that CB at 13 as TB may have before the trade. Do you mean the whole draft, or just the first round?

What am I missing?

They aren't as likely as the Bucs were. They have A LOT of holes, I think there's a number of positions they'd look at before CB - OLB, WR, even QB, to name a few. I think they'll look at offense if they can't get a top pass rusher, their offense was an embarrassment last year.
