How is it unfair? Any team is allowed to run it. Only one team can actually do it.I don’t think it will be but I do think it creates an unfair advantage.
A defense is never going to be able to match the offensive leverage because they also have to respect other plays/players. Add in that the offense knows the snap count and it’s a big offensive advantage.
Credit to Philly for their creativity. The goal is to create mismatches and the tush push does do that. But I think there should be limitations.
Why would you ban a play that only one team can effectively do?
This should be called the Jalen Hurts rule if it is banned.
If offensive players are allowed to continue to assist the ball carrier then allow defenders to do the same, bring back leverage on field goal blocks..seems fair to me.The proposal was modified to ban any pushing of the ball carrier.
So, it's the tush push or the 5 OL running to help create a mosh pit for the ball carrier trying to get a first down.
The original tush push ban was supposedly split down the middle the first time this offseason it was brought up

Ahead of a vote that could ban the tush push, the Green Bay Packers submitted a revision of their rule proposal that would more broadly ban pushing or pulling the ball carrier anywhere on the field.
In the proposal's updated language, "offensive players cannot assist the runner except by individually blocking opponents for him." The Packers also eliminated "immediately at the snap," in the updated language.
OutI believe the vote is today...what's your call?
Yes, I saw that they finally looked into the rule book and saw that it is against the rules to push, pull or carry a runner.I believe the vote is today...what's your call?
You can't ban a play because Jalen Hurts is too strong.Basically will wait until someone gets injured by it.
Yes, it should be banned.I believe the vote is today...what's your call?
It isn't but it has taken a tiny step towards becoming one.The NFL is officially a rugby league.
Everything I heard on NFL & ESPN yesterday was about removing the ability to push, pull, carry the ball carrier. So, it's not against the specific play but any where it becomes a scrum rather than blocking & tackling. It's not if it gets banned, it's how it gets banned. If you go back to the old rules where you cannot aid a ball carrier by pushing him, that's totally fine. They should not have changed that rule. But if they do something stupid and try to ban a specific play, that I'm against.
And those were way more exciting plays than the tush push! If this fails, they should go ahead and bring back the clothesline tackle.Yup. Same reason they banned horse collar tackles.
They've done it multiple times to the Cowboys. Why would you ban a play that only one team can effectively do?
This should be called the Jalen Hurts rule if it is banned.
