Does this make me a homer?

While the sky is falling and all of that...I will say that I do like how in the player interviews that the players still seem to believe in their team and more importantly their head coach. That's no guarantee of a great season next year, obviously.

Still, there is a solid nucleus of players to build towards the future. I believe they have a good chance of responding to the challenge positively next year. I just hope somehow we can keep Garrett.

no, thats how most fans should look at it. we have a tight young nucleus we are just looking for a little atom to go through it to set off the nuclear explosion and we go all the way

Sorry that this is like post number one. I post at other cowboys sites but because this site is so packed I do a bit of lurking instead. ;)

I agree with you. We have plenty of talent, and really, I only see Julius, Akin, and Reeves (and Nate), needing to go. (And if it wouldn't hurt, a coordinator that will put in press coverage.)

Btw, how is it going over at ES? I lurk over there as well, and I'll bet tr1 has made about 150 threads about the playoff loss right?

No it does not mean you're a homer in the sense that you "stick your head in the sand" as the uber-pessimists like to say.

It simply means you're a fan who has a well-balanced view of the team's prospects in the near future.

Yes, the Washington Packers fans are living it up in their glass house. They seem to care more about TO crying and Jessica Simpson than anything that happened in the football game.

We have a bunch of "IT" players.
We have a bunch of "SH" players.

The team as a whole doesnt have "IT"
Thats where we need to get to.

No, that would make you logical.

13-4 record, 4th youngest team in the league, bonafide franchise QB that's on 27 years old, a team that can now sack the QB at a high rate usually equates to being good for the next few years.

Now, if the Cowboys get illogical and start getting rid of players because they couldn't win one playoff game without having suitable replacements and start doing things like trading away draft picks for veteran players of other teams, then we'll be in trouble.

LOL. I thought you were going to combine the words at first until I saw the second paragraph.

Thanks. Love your articles, BTW.

Another thing I took from this loss is the types of valuable lessons that can be learned by the Cowboys:

1. You can't mail it in during the regular season. You got to stay focused.
2. The weaknesses we do have did cost us and they need to get fixed.
3. Stupid penalties and drops - the difference in the ball game.
4. Romo - always seems to respond to adversity.
5. Jerry Jones - do everything you can to get rid of the media distractions in Dallas!!!

I agree with everything.

And does anyone deny that if we shore up the secondary this will be an unstoppable defense next year? I mean the pressure is crazy, and all we need are two solid DBs to add depth. (and get rid of Reeves)

We need to draft CB and WR. Resign Hamlin, start Watkins, keep Davis and cut our losses with RW & Reeves.
