I am a long time reader, short time poster, and firt time theader . . .
I was a big advocate of playing Romo over Bledsoe, and while I think Romo has improved our QB play, I think I may have made an error in trying to figure out why this team plays erratic week in and week out.
In today's NFL where all teams are all about the same due to parity, it seems that you need to find another edge to be successful. Being physical is just not enough.
I think Parcell may spend too much time on the physical and technical aspects of the game and does not get this team mentally prepared for games on a consistent basis. Players Manning and Brady are great because they work on the mental part of the game as much as the physical. Romo seems to do the same type of mental preparation (Reading the Bellichek book, the extra game tape preparation, the extra time working with receivers on routes). The top teams (Chicago, Indy, Denver, Giants, Patriots, even Seattle) all look more mentally prepared than we are. Even when these teams struggle, they look more mentally together than we do.
That being said, do you think this team needs a coach that works with these players on their mental preparedness? Or maybe a consultant that comes in (like a Tony Robbins or Dale Carnegie kind of guy) who works with them on tuning the teams mental preparedness? Becuase it seems like having the mental edge is just as important in todays NFL as it is to having the physical preparedness.
