Does this year feel different?

They had very little to no depth last year, which I think they've done a good job of addressing. I agree DT is still a need, but hopefully OL has been shored up, and Pickens will also do alot in helping the run game because defenses can't just stack the box, double Lamb, and dare us to try anything like they did last year. I think it's understated how much a good second WR does to help the run game. The interior OL has also been shored up, as I don't think many of us realized how bad Martin was playing last year (at least I didn't). They added alot of good depth to the defensive line and quietly got much better/deeper at DE and LB. DT and maybe OT are the only glaring holes on this roster right now. I'm not saying Jerry turned into Howie Roseman overnight, but they fielded playoff teams 3 years in a row doing much less than they did this offseason, and somehow still aren't in cap Hell and won't be even after signing Micah. Sure, it still all hinges on Dak playing up to his contract, and frankly he's out of excuses this year. But I do, perhaps foolishly, feel some modicum of optimism, at least compared to last year.
I understand defenses can not stack the box with the addition of Pickens, but let's be honest, no one was stacking the box last season anyway.

I realized how bad he was playing. Jerry should never have extended his contract.

Nope. Not even close.

This offseason regardless of the slurry of moves to bring in guys that are mostly JAGs proved to me this front office is LAZY.

They proved it with the HC search, they are continuing to prove it with the Micah deal, and they continuously get fans to buy in. I don't know how but they do it. I am not one of those fans anymore. This ownership has sucked the fan out of me.

Out of ALL of the moves they made this offseason. The only ones I am happy/excited about are. Murray, Milton and Fowler. Booker will be a stud at G but I still feel that G wasn't a need position with Hoffman on the roster. Again. Being lazy and not willing to take risk.

Sorry but bringing in Javonte Williams, and Miles Sanders doesnt scream aggressive team building to me.

They still havent made any improvement on stopping the run. Its like they refuse to see it as a problem.
I'm slightly more pleased with the player acquisitions but other than that, yeah.

Reminds me of some advice my crazy unc gave me before I got married.

He told me, set the bar as low as you can. You'll be a hero when you surpass the expectations you set, but you'll always be a jackass if you fail to meet them.

The team will go as the o-line goes, Dak will have all the weapons a QB could want. No excuses.
What do you mean there's no excuses ??/

you just said it goes as the O line goes well what if Guyton and Steele can't deal with better defensive lines and pass rushers and will have DAK running for his life again?

what IF???

All the weapons that he could want??!!

now I'd say that a guy like Saquan Barkley Derek Henry hell at this point I would take a Josh Jacobs over what we have right now,
All this is tbd ,all this has to come together, he rolled in those bigger games with no run games, all those losses in the playoffs all those losses in the regular season against better defenses was because of the offensive line and the lack of a run game or both were having problems....

Let me be clear Jalen hurts and Matthew Stafford and Brock Purdy they had all the weapons that quarterback could want, jared Goff has all the weapons a quarterback could want,

we don't have that on this team as OF YET...

Even if the offensive line comes together and we have a decent run game they are not the offensive line and run game of the Lions or the Eagles..facts

so, I see what you're doing you think because we added Pickens all of a sudden everything else is golden, no you said it in your first part of your sentence and then you go away from it trying to set DAK up for failure, because you think we have an all in loaded team and we do not have an all in loaded team..

RBBC ??? OLT ??? TE production????? Defense???

Let's see how those questions are answered before you put this all in the it's going to be Prescott because we have a juggernaut on offense no no we don't not yet...

Another what if???

What if the defense can't hold teams the better teams the better offense is under 30 or even under 27. heck under 20, now it's back to all the pressure throwing the ball 30 times a game again if we don't have a stronger run game playing from behind....

Yes, this would be an improved offense on paper,

but to say he has all the weapons a quarterback could want , would be a false statement..

they would want more they would want as much as you can give them this this offense is not an Emmett Smith Tony Dorset an offensive line-oriented offense at this point that is what a great offense would run through.

I don't care how well this running back by committee MAY work, it is not Derek Henry or Barkley it is not the Lions offense there is no way it could be now you want to add Nick Chubb, then we can talk...

But this forever will be a team game and if the defense sucks it'll make the offense horrible, as well that's a lot of pressure to say well our defense is bad so do whatever you can to try to win the game by yourself....

We've seen this all before and when it got to the big games against a better team even some of our best offensive lines and runners just failed to show up the defense failed to show up the coaching staffs were out coached this can all still happen.. we had that at one point solid zeke with above average OL, and what happened NO RUN game , OL 11 Penalties, D cant stop the run.. or all the above

I for one, was not going to get too excited about the upcoming season bc I've been let down so often as we all have. That being said... does this off season seem different... like there is an actual plan? Was Shotty the right pick for HC? Will Klayton Adams really have us moving the ball on the ground... will we set up every play to look the same so the run and the pass keep the defenses honest. Did we really draft a 1-2 punch at RB? Will George P and CD rip up defenses. Have we done enough on the D side of the ball to at least put us in the top half of league and will our O be able to up points as we hope they will?
I've "felt different" in MANY early off seasons before. This doesn't feel much different than them.

What I want to know is.... will post season "feel different".

Nope. Just the same BS worded different. I don't give this team even a shread of benefit of the doubt.
In battle there’s a term called “shell shocked”. Usually only the newbies are affected. They’ve never experienced it so when rounds start coming in from down range they’re shocked and they freeze. Some can’t handle it and are never the same. Some get past it and move on. There are a lot of folks here that are shell shocked from the past 30 years of mediocrity and can’t get past it. They let it control them. To hide their weakness they become overly hateful of everyone and everything.

This year does feel different. It should for everyone except those who are incapable of handling the last 30 years. New coaching staff is HUGE. It IS different because of this. New approach to free agency. Several trades from top level talent as well as players for depth. A backup QB who has more upside than Rush ever did.

In reality, every year is different and should feel that way. This year even ore so.

For me it's the Jason Garrett years all over again. The RKG crap is even in play again. We've got a tenured coach that's never had any real success in the league running one of the most valuable sports franchises on the planet. After a season where they were woefully inept at DT, LB, and RB they're entering the 2025 season again woefully inept at the exact same positions. The cherry on top is the cap eating, immobile, oft injured QB who struggles with both accuracy and pre-snap reads. The good news is that the Jones boys are "comfortable" with the hire, feel the organization is "headed in the right direction", and there's a brand new ping pong table in the locker room. Here's hoping Shotty takes Dakota out for some fajitas and tableside guacamole before a rousing game of horse.

We may be better but the schedule is brutal.
Don't believe what you're looking at on paper on paper it looks brutal but strength of schedule and all that you don't know what any of those teams are going to look like this year so it's a week to week challenge.

The only thing that's different than is last year I don't see a big difference between 2021 and Whatnot when we won 12 games yes this looks like they're all in only because they did so little last year...

It all has to come together there's still a lot of questions that will be answered in live games. Hopefully by mid season we'll know what we really have but all this speculation is just that...

Yip. It does. I been saying this year feels different since we hired Shotty. The entire tone from the top down has been different. I see urgency with purpose. Dunno if that equals a good season, but it's something.

I am more upbeat that they have actually had a good off-season.
However, I do not expect any miracles because of it either.
I am still in a wait and see mode, as many fans are. Show us on the field, in real games.

I am happy we get actual football news over the next month even though it is only OTA's, and mini camps. All generic stuff to the public and media. But it will create some interesting debates and discussions. And the usual arguments.
Behind closed doors is what really matters as the instill stuff we will not see until game 1.

I am also happy we are approaching another season, to enjoy how all unfolds. Not just Dallas, but the entire NFL.

It does. But I'll still expect the worst every week until they pull me back in. In the end I'm sure our souls will be torn from our bodies and stepped on... not to be dramatic...

We do not know that yet
"Hey! Can you perform emergency surgery?!"
"Yeah! I have a degree! And I was a fake nurse last year."
"That's great, but are you qualified to do surgery?"
"Yeah! Trust me!"
"Sure thing! We use the "We don't know yet" approach here! Get in there and let's see!"

You think that's how things work, Jazz? This is how loser operations are run.
