Does Tony Romo have some type of hand injury?

I'm just wondering because ever since the Tampa Bay game he has not thrown the ball well at all. Too many of his passes seem to be fluttering out of his hand and his overall accuracy seems to be off. Just look at the pass to Austin over the middle. If Romo hits him in stride he may score on that and yet he has to go to the ground to catch it. Same thing on the 4th down completion to Jason Witten. He was wide open yet he had to make a spectacular catch to get the first down.

I know Tony Romo has never had Aaron Rodgers type accuracy, but what I am seeing lately makes me wonder if he hurt his hand in the Bucs or Bears game and the Cowboys are keeping it quiet..

this is what i was wondering also. Alot of passes today and almost all year haven't been too well. Witten made alot of spectacular grabs on plays he was wide open. Miles and dez had to make sliding catches going to the ground. Today. He overthrew ogletree on a crossing route which lead to a pick. But I was thinking either romo is playing with a injury this year and is quiet about it or he is regressing/declining pray: i hope not).

Yeah that is why he completed 67% of the passes.

In retrospect, some of his passes were low today, but I hadn't considered an injury. He looked just fine throwing the final TD and conversion attempt, but that was from close range.

Completion % is a poor indicator of overall throwing accuracy. Short passes can skew the numbers, but my eye tells me Tony is not throwing the ball as well as he has in past years. Too many of his passes look like they are tipped by a defender. Very few tight spirals.

I dont think its due to injury, he was just off in some throws.

Its the rookie- like ints he has had in every single game this year thats concerning me.

IMO, we gave up some huge plays, even a possible TD when the DB fell down because of some of those errant throws that the receivers had to slide, dive and jump for.

Yes he has. You can put a sundial on some of his throws.

I swear on the Miles Austin play where he was on the ground so he just stayed there, if Romo had hit him in stride, that appeared to be going a long way. The two nearest defenders may not have caught him.

He has a 7.6 avg per attempt, its not a function of checkdowns.

The expectations of perfection for Romo are unreal. Its like Quincy Carter was never here....

Lacks stature in the pocket, does too much shuffling and sliding of his feet and rarely sets with a solid base delivering the ball. Changes his point of release and slings the ball from the side or throws off his back foot. Adequate arm but not a rifle on his shoulders. Pass placement is not exceptional, as his completion percentage would lead one to believe.



Maybe he still struggles with his mechanics at times causing an errant pass. IIRC, he has always seemed to have a few passes off target where the receiver has to bale him out; Witten/Austin catches today come to mind. Just another possiblity to consider.

Good point. The way he is throwing looks a lot like that final game against the Giants. I sure hope it is not last years injury causing it. It could be that he is trying to guide his passes too much rather than just cutting them loose. Whatever it is I hope it gets better soon. This game would have been real ugly if we don't run for 227 yards.
