Let's look at a few things. If we trade for a WR that takes targets away from him. We know these guys all want the ball.

How does it affect him contractually,. If we were to trade for a big name or sign the obj guy, can you really have two $20+ million WRs on this team?!

Being that ceedee has been a cowboys player longer, who do you go to in crunch moments of the game?? Please give your thoughts

Yes. There are multiple teams in the NFL that have dedicated more than double the money of what we have to the WR position.

It’s 100% doable…I just don’t trust Jerry to make a good decision and make the team better.

That's a lot of money then we have Gallup then the guy who's throwing the ball to them

No it helps him

CeeDee with another great or even good wr may take away catches but it wont take away yards

instead of catching 100+ for 1300 balls he'll catch 85 for 1300 because he'll be able to be more open downfield

Sign a true #2…..not a Gallup#2……and CeeDees targets wont be affected

Gallup goes to solid #3 which is more in line with his skill set

The thing to keep in mind on Gallups deal is that the Cowboys have a very easy out after this season, provided they don't mess with it.

Now personally I think WRs are starting to become the new RBs of the NFL. By that I mean they tend to produce quickly coming out of college, can be found in all rounds of the draft, and there really is no shortage of them. Not saying it's quite devalued to the extent of running backs, but my strategy would be to pay for one premium guy if you have one, and churn the rest of the WR depth regularly. Maybe spend a high draft pick on one ever 3-4 years, find a developmental guy later on most years, then if push comes to shove you can typically find solid 2nd or 3rd tier free agents for a fraction of the cost of an OBJ.

Can it be done paying multiple receivers big money? Absolutely, but I would rather pay one and spend the rest of my money in the trenches.

It does. They don't need another old WR they need to draft some young speedster to open up the field.

I'll take it but I sitll don't know why people think you need two #1 level WRs.

There aren't many teams that have that, especially if you factor in age.
For example, Theilan for sure is no longer a #1 level guy.

Maybe the Bucs have 2 with Godwin and Evans
If Devonte Smith keeps developing, maybe Philly has 2 with Brown there.
Bengals have Chase and Higgins...though some may not put Higgens as a #1.

So few have it.

The difference these teams that have generally 2 1’s at wr has one a rookie deal and the other at 20m+ . Waddle and hill also included with your examples

We definitely need more speed, but the real difference maker would be a true possession receiver like Beasley from the slot. He doesn’t have to be built like Beasley, but a quick wr who separates and is hard to cover from the slot keeps the chains moving.

I've heard this question all week but it's not actually factual

Lamb has 2 more years on his rookie deal and then will have a smaller cap hit on the first year of his 2nd deal

Lamb won't be a 20 million dollar guy till 2026 so there won't be "dual 20 million wrs". If the cowboys did trade or sign a veteran their not paying them for that long

Exactly. That's what would happen with the cowboys. Lamb has 2 years remaining on his rookie deal and will have a smaller cap hit on the first year of his extension. He won't be a 20 million cap hit till at least 2026

Whatever guy they either sign or trade for won't be guaranteed that long

Add a $40m QB who can't get them all the ball... and you got a basket case. He will chuck it to his TE or safety option.
Yep, spot on, and Im dying on that hill again, blame receivers if you want ....but "wasnt Hilton open"?

If there's a way to improve our receiving options then it's Kincaid (or even Musgrave) in the draft.

Being that ceedee has been a cowboys player longer, who do you go to in crunch moments of the game??
Length of service with a team should have NOTHING to do with where the ball goes. If it does, you have a huge problem.

As constructed, they have to pay one #1 in Lamb, Gallup is making #2 money, they can afford to sign a similar contract to Gallup’s or add another one if they let Gallup go next season. Really believe OBJ will receive a little more then Gallup, but not number 1 type of Money, where they can afford all three for the next couple of seasons

Gallup will be back to normal this season. With Lamb and hopefully another 2 WR better than Noah Brown. We will be good. Hilton maybe back. And a young quick guy in the slot would be perfect.
