Self explanatory. Tyron is on a decent contract an OL play is bad across the league. Do you think Tyron is worth a 2nd or 3rd in a trade?
I doubt it.. We can try but Jerry isn't very good negotiating trades..........well, at least ones that benefit our team. Tyron is likely going to get extended or restructured if we keep him. We save 13M in cap space cutting him so its just a question on what kind of contract he settles for given his injury history. Hell, he could also retire.

I would do that trade, but if they cannot get a second rounder they should probably keep him because of the Steele injury.

And replace him with? Even if we only get 12 games out of Tyron Smith, having an elite tackle is too valuable in this league to give up. With how long lineman are playing in the league today, he could have another 5 years left in him.

I bet it's not worth what we could get in return.

If the goal is to build through the draft then I'd look at Martins trade value. No one is trading for Tyron Smith.
I think you have to start looking at all options. If someone were to give you a first round pick for Martin, you would have to take a good hard look at it. Maybe a 1st and a player or another pick? He is playing at a high level, but his salary is also healthy.

Yep, you might as well prepare for 2024 if you can't \ won't get rid of the albatross. ZM might go somewhere where he could win something. Cincy seems poised to be a yearly contender and they still have OL issues.

Tyron should stop while he can still stand up straight.

You replace Tyron with a draft pick and a player at about 1/5 of his salary. With Dak eating up a huge chunk of the cap you have to make tough decisions.

I would not have franchise tagged Schultz last offseason. You should not be franchise tagging players who are just above average at their position.

It’s sort of like Pollard this year. Is he really good, yeah. Is he the second coming of McCaffery? No. You let those guys go and draft a replacement in the draft.

I would be trying to cheaply re-sign McGovern. Linemen take a few years to develop and McGovern is steady. You still look to improve the OL even after you re-sign a guy like him. But would you ever franchise tag him? No.

You aren't getting first round draft pick for Smith - so you get a draft pick and gamble and hope that player even turns into a good player in the NFL, which isn't common. Most picks don't pan out.

Smith isn't breaking the bank. If you want to free up money, you do it with Zeke and adjusting Dak's contract.

A trade involving Tyron Smith likely wont happen, imo .
A cap casualty cut won't likely happen either.

Betcha team was impressed with him vs Nick Bosa,..as well as Tyron surprisingly stayed healthy upon his return.
Imagine if we had to resort to JAGs like Aviantte Collins and Josh Ball vs Nick Bosa ?

So long as they can flex Tyler Smith from OT to OG, ..and OG to OT, that gives us incredibly flexibility and so long as Tyron can play like this, i can see the team wanting
to squeeze remaining juice outta the current Tyron contract.

LT - Tyron Smith
LG - Tyler Smith
C - Biadasz
RG - Martin
RT - Steele

Do we return reserve Peters on another one year deal ?
