Dolphins give LB Jordyn Brooks a contract extension

I stopped even thinking about him on draft day. His future was decided when he wasn’t traded then.

What is funny is that they drafted Jacob Rodriguez.
I thought it was a bit odd that they were the ones to drsft him the Dolphins have had two inside lbs at the same time before

Brooks will be the Mike because he’s a close the line downhill guy. Moustache is more of a sideline to sideline guy who can cover.

Even if he doesn’t start, he’ll be in full time with the nickel, which is 70% of jsut about every team’s sets these days

I, for one was begging / expecting the Cowboys to sign a linebacker before the regular season starts. I was pushing hard for Brooks. I'm disappointed but that's how the NFL works. I'm hopeful they don't regret not bringing a great, run-stopping LB later in the season.

I’m actually very surprised by this, given that they drafted two good quality LBs in Rodriguez and Louis. I thought they were meant to be tanking?

I imagine they must want to retain Brooks to mentor the younger guys.
Maybe since probably the entire league called trying to get him, they realized they had a keeper.

Certain guys can be kept, even during your classic tank.

Last time they were supposedly doing so it ended up in some very interesting circumstances. Not sure if they were sold since.
