I don't know about that. Last year, I thought Zimmer was doing a pretty good job. 10th in the league in total defense, 12th in scoring defense. But this year, we've gone from 12th to 20th in scoring defense. In our second year in the 3-4, we're giving up significantly more points. And we seem to be getting worse. And its not just the points. Its the inexplicably bad decisions. Take that last touchdown before halftime Sunday. Eight seconds on the clock. If they throw the ball anywhere but the endzone, they run to risk of losing the clock before they can try a field goal. And in that situation, you have Aaron Glenn covering Roy Williams by himself in the endzone? Why on earth would you have anyone, much less your third corner, against one of the best receivers in the league man-to-man with no help in that situation? I don't pretend to have more football knowledge than the coaches doing it professionally, but IMO there's just no excuse in that situation. And that's not just an isolated incident. I think that there have been numerous lapses like that that could lead BP, not previously interested in a guy like Capers, to change his mind. After all, I suspect that if BP was comletely sold on Zimmer, Zimmer's contract would have been extended long ago.
