Dominique Barber makes his mark in Houston
Posted by Mike Florio on December 10, 2009 6:35 PM ET
Marion Barber isn't the only member of the family playing pro football for a team headquartered in Texas. His younger brother, Dominique, joined the Texans in 2008 via the sixth-round of the draft.
Now, 12 games into his second season, Barber has been named the team's starting free safety.
"He had an excellent half [in] the second half of the Jacksonville game," coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday. "He's healthy, his ankle's good, it's time for him to go."
"It feels good," Barber said. "It's been a long process. I just go back to what my dad always tells me, 'Don't be surprised. Be ready.' I just have to go out there and compete."
Barber started two games at free safety earlier in the year. Others who have started games at the position this season including Eugene Wilson, Nick Ferguson, and John Busing.
Both of the Barbers played college football at Minnesota.
