The Jets will not retain him. If Zimmer does leave, I'd love to have this guy as our D coordinator.

I wouldn't he is a 4-3 DC. At least Zimmer has had a year of "growing pains." If we're going to let Zimmer go, we must get an established 3-4 DC.

They actually play a 3-4, with John Abraham listed as a 'Will' linebacker. He's just always in a down position to rush the passer every down

Huh, does Abraham ever drop into coverage or does he just rush the passer. It seems that Abrahm is listed as a DE every time I see the Jets play and he has his hand on the ground at all times. I haven't seen him rush the passer standing up or drop to cover a TE. Now if signing Henderson would help us sign Abraham, I'd be all for it! Henderson seems to like Abraham alot and I wouldn't mind Abraham playing for us. Maybe Henderson can convince him to play OLB for us.

On the Jets' website, Abraham is listed as a "Will". You will also see that they have four LB's, one position named 'Jack', same as Dat played her, the weakside ILB.

Henderson would be a solid pick up for several teams. I have a feeling he may land in NE.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but does he drop into coverage? If he does and they play a true 3-4 I would sign him just to get Abraham. Similar situation with Bowles and Henry.

Abraham is a DE. I have no idea where he is listed as a LB, but he strictly plays DE and doesnt drop into coverage. His job is to rush the passer and try to contain the run.

Then New York doesn't play a 3-4.

I am only stating what he is listed as on the Jets' team page under depth chart. I agree that I would consider him a DE, but I guess he is listed that because of his weight (roughly the same as Ware).

Definitely a 4-3.

Shaun Ellis - DeWayne Robertson - James Reed - John Abraham

Mark Brown - Jonathan Vilma - Victor Hobson

Did you notice that there is no one listed as a RE ?

It seems like a mistake.

The Jets play a 4-3. With Abraham being the RE.

the Jets use both schemes

The Jets run a 4-3. When they first hired Henderson, he wanted to use more 3-4 looks, but backed off after they didn't have much early success with it. They didn't really stick with it long enough to get a good feel for how Abraham would be as a 3-4 LB.

I think you're right, I just remembered reading somewhere, sometime ago, that they ran both schemes, I know Jason Ferguson ran it 3 of the years he was in New York, but I guess they didn't run it this year then

When they drafted Robertson right ahead of us picking Newman, the idea was to fit him into a 3-4.

Does Henderson have ties to BP? How did the jets 'd' look last season? I know they were injured on the 'o' side.. but I wasn't sure about the 'd'..
