You can tell the casual fans who aren’t really plugged in or just aren’t aware. This guy is NOT a replacement for Demarcus Lawrence! At this point in his career, Lawrence was a BASE end (Left or Strong Side). He was solid against the run and had pash rush ability. Been the case with him for a while. They drafted his replacement when they selected Kneeland in the second round last year. They also signed Payton Turner for this role/depth this year. Ezeiruaku is the classic speed rusher/weakside DE (same position as Micah). They are not the same! Just like MLB,WLB, Sam Linebacker are not the same. He’s a great pass rusher no doubt, but he’s plays the same spot as Micah, Dante Fowler, and Sam Williams. To me, a top WR, or RB would’ve been better use of the pick and more impactful RIGHT NOW. If all their edge players are healthy, this guy will struggle to get reps as a rookie.

I have done plenty of digging. He is eligible in 2026 but he and his family has stated a few times that he will play all of his eligibility which is three years. He could play two and come out in 2027 but it might be 2028. This is a good thing though, it will coincide with the end of Dak.

I look forward to what this pass rush can be. Parsons obviously is one of the best in the league. Odighizuwa is solid, but not spectacular. Fowler is essentially a pass rush specialist. And Ez could be second-only to Parsons.

We know we need someone other than Micah that teams feel they have to double-team, and Ez could be.

Abdul Carter received all the hype. I am failing to see where Carter has shown to be superior to our guy. Identical size. Ezeiruaku has better stats in some areas. Seems to show more pass rush moves. Makes me wonder if people see Carter as Micah due to Penn State and obvious similarities.

Where did you get that I was underestimating Fowler? I was saying he’s one of the reasons I think DE is potentially our most-improved position right now.

I think others are under estimating him. Sorry that wasn’t clear. His last year here his efff off active snap rate was near the top. He is a smart player and may be able to teach others. I was surprised he was key walk in Washington.

I think positional versatility comes into it - both in terms of preference over Ezeiruaku etc, and in relation to the Micah comparison.

Carter can easily play linebacker. Analysts were mostly saying that Eze lacks a little long speed for LB, by comparison to a guy like Carter.

…But when you think that we took one of them at 44 while the other guy was third overall, you kind of get the feeling we got a total steal. Honestly think he’s as good as Mykel, and that was my guy.

what i like about him is he rushes from all over the place like Micah.sometimes he is LE ,,sometimes he is at RE and he rushes from the linebacker spot too and he is not a total liability against the run.
