Don't be a fool Jerry, hire Bill Cowher!

The fact that he's even talking to the Jets shows that he's interested in coaching again - this season.

If that's the case, there's nothing that the Jets can offer him that the Cowboys can't, not money, not talent, not prestige.

Bringing in a coach like Cowher would chase away this team's lackadaisical attitude and misguided sense of self-entitlement.

He'd bring in good coaches with him who know how to maximize a team's talents rather than letting them underachieve.

And hiring Cowher would restore confidence in this team's future, unlike keeping Marshmallow Man.

And it would also help Jones sell seats for the new stadium, probably enough to offset Cowher's salary.

This move is a no-brainer, show you have one Jerry!

Other than Vermeil, when has this tactic of hiring a retired, SB winning coach EVER worked?

We are going to miss a Golden opportunity here to keep Captain CupCake and Carrot Top.

Still probably beats that retread...

Was never impressed with Cowher and without some timely officiating - he would be a two-time SB loser...

Let them have him...

Bill Parcells.

No way Bill comes back to this circus. The other Bill either. who could blame them

I wasn't saying bring Bill back. I was answering his question.

Parcells was able to revive not one, not two, but three franchises after winning a Super Bowl in New York.

And Vermeil is a great example - probably the best.

Took the Eagles to the Super Bowl and then won with the Rams.

Holmgren won in Green Bay and then took Seattle to the big game.

And it's not like Cowher has been out of the game that long either, not to where it would affect his ability to coach or knowledge of the league.

Cowher has made it clear that he wants total control. That leaves the Cowboys out.

Parcells got 'total control' when he was here, so Jerry can do it if he wants to.

Vermeil wasn't a retired SB winning coach when the Rams hired him. He lost the only Super Bowl he appeared in with the Eagles.

Not "total" control. Lets be honest here. Parcells NEVER wanted T.O and sure enough Jerry got him.

But even according to Parcells himself, it was agreed upon by both parties...

I wasn't very clear. When has hiring one of these retreads ever worked for the new team to win a SB?

Parcell's record here is not something I would shoot for.

I wouldn't ask for a SB, simply not blowing a playoff game by 30+ pts would be an upgrade.
It's about attitude. You could see last years playoff loss coming, so could you see it coming this year. If we fight with all heart and lose, fine, thats sports. But collapsing in back-to-back seasons without even trying (e.g. 'work out' over 'day off'), thats the problem. The bobble in Seattle was bad luck, not finishing routes last year was dumb. Thats the difference and thats pure coaching. And thats what makes everyone upset, it's not 'not winning the SB'.

What difference does departing the NFL for a year or something make? That's just an arbitrary distinction to make your point work. The list of coaches that led teams deep into the playoffs and Superbowls and left for other teams where they did the same thing is long indeed.

It's not like Cowher is some relic that's been sitting on the shelf for 15 years.

Anyway, it's not going to happen, and I'm not sure he's the right fit anyway.
