Don't be so sure about Romo being the #2...

While he may very well be, you guys are jumping to conclusions.

The fact that Henson didn't play tonight means nothing. Romo only got 8 passes. Did you guys expect BP to give those 8 to 2 QBs for a total of 4 pass attempts each?
No way.

The fact is, the first team offense stayed on a long time which was necessary. They needed the practice and the confidence.

Also, BP is gonna be making some cuts before the next game so I'm sure he was playing some of the guys he's undecided about tonight with Romo. If Romo was to be the number 2, he would have wanted to surround him with better talent to improve.

I think Romo is the more comfortable of the 2 right now so BP rolled with him but was really interested in seeing A-Train and Tyson Thompson... Crowder and Copper... etc.

Not to mention, we have Henson signed for multiple years. Romo is in his final. If a QB were to be cut this year it would be Romo. BP obviously sees getting Romo as many reps as possible as a priority given that he may have to make a decision to keep him or not, soon. He doesn't have to make that decision on Henson just yet.

Finally, I don't know if u heard but I paid very close attention to BP a couple months ago when he said that he likes to play his #2 QB last in the final preseason games so that QB can try to rally the team for a win. Meaning, he likes to play his #2 QB at the end of the games to help build the teams' confidence in him if he can pull off a victory or maintain a lead. Maybe time just didn't afford him the ability to play Henson 3rd tonight.

They did say that Henson has the best scores from practice... even better than Bledsoe.

He may be.
But it looks like I'm the only one not jumping to conclusions.
You might be surprised.

I might be.

But then, I might not be.

If my plan was to have Henson as my #2 QB this season, or even be thinking about Henson as my #2 QB this season, then I would be giving him every damn snap I could in these games, because he sure as heck needs all the reps he can get.

He got none.

BUt chin up, next year is when Henson shines.

DIdn't Romo just sign a 2 year contract? Pretty sure he did. Not that it matters. Randal Williams signed a 2 year contract last year.

You seem to have forgotten that we're talking about the same coach who wouldn't play his #2 QB (Henson) last season time and time again when the season was already a wash and we were blown out in some games... because he sure as heck needed all the reps he can get.

He got none.

But chin up... Bledsoe rules.

I think the reason he didn't play Henson is cuz he wasn't ready yet.

You can throw a QB in the deep end and see if he swims, but you have to at least be sure that he has the ability to swim. I think BP thought Henson couldn't swim yet, or wasn't ready to even attempt swimming. I think he was looking out more for Henson's future then people think. It is true that if you put a QB in there before he's ready to be in there, it can ruin them. Especially a QB that was away from the game 3+ years.

I think Henson will be fine, but he needs more time to develop then a "normal" QB would usually take.

I agree.
That's exactly what BP said last year.

I was just responding to what wilee said by reminding him that BP works in strange ways.

BP is difficult to figure out at times. That's for sure.

But like last week, Tyson Thompson didn't play at all on offense. I said, "He'll probably get a lot of playing time next game", and sure enough BP put him in there tonight and certainly tested him.

I think the same will happen next game, but with Henson. I think Bledsoe will play around 3 series, and the rest of the game will be split up between Romo and Henson.

I think Bledsoe plays a little less next game. Maybe just a half.
I could be wrong.

Do you think BP will have his #2 named before the next game?

I think BP wont' actually ever "Name" the #2 QB. He'll just write out the depth chart and let the media read it. lol

And I don't think he'll do it till after thursday's game. I also don't think Bledsoe will even play a half. Probably a quarter, or maybe a bit more.

my bad.
I thought you said 3 quarters, not 3 series.
He definitely won't play 3 quarters.
probably only 1, if that... true.

Qwickdraw,

I didn't see the game last night, but I hope to catch it tonight if the hurricane stays away. :)

Anyway, what was that discussion about Henson being the best in certain drills, etc.? I may be mistaken, but I've read a couple references to that discussion and I'm not clear on what was said.

Thanks!

BTW, how did the competition go?

It's a comment in reference to BP's evaluation technique of the QBs in camp.
He has a chart that records every detail of how the QBs do in camp. Passes thrown, passes not thrown that should have been, good decisions, bad decisions, INTs, etc. Evrything.
In regards to that chart and evaluation method, Henson has scored the highest... even above Bledsoe.

Henson did not play last night at all but I think it was just because there wasnt enough time to play all 3 QBs. The 1st team stayed in a good while.

Clueless

Romo is the #2. This is great news Romo played GREAT. Great news that Henson who needs EXPERIENCE rides the bench.

You Hensonites are like ostriches.
Get your head out of the sand!

Nors,

I may be a Hensonite, but I don't have my head in the sand. If Henson is #3 and develops another year I have no problem with that. The plan is obviously Bledsoe for 2-3 years if he's healthy and plays reasonably well and the hope within the organization that Henson develops. Henson is the hope for the future; Romo is stop-gap for now, nothing more.

BTW, where have you been all week? It's pretty lame of you not to come on the board and defend your boy Romo after his pitiful showing last Monday. At least Banned was still on here discussing it against all the Hensonites. Yeah, I know you were working, unable to get on the board, blah, blah, blah. :D

But last night Romo has a decent game and, as predicted, here you come.

Why do you care?
So you could have touted Henson all week then look like a dufus when he doesn't even get to play in the dress rehearsal game?

Each week the broadcasters and media at large has been clear that Romo was clearly outplaying Henson and was the number 2. Arguing with that was silly. Since it is for a backup job it really doesn't even matter much.

If you guys wanna stop hearing Nors crow about being right then stop picking up arguments where you have a near zero chance of being right.

I'll believe that "stat" thing when Parcells says it. Thats alzheimered and bourbon JJ owner speak last night. Then Romo plays and Henson sits....... Me thinks Henson is TRADE bait.

NOBODY at the camps including Dale - has Henson outplaying Romo and Bledsoe. Damn near nobody but JJ and the rabid Hensonites who are in shock this morning.

Mornin Hos!
