Sorry I just don't believe Jerry is dumb enough to make such a trade with the Dolphins. Why in the world would he give up 2 first rounders (and what else) to grab McFadden when it obviously McFadden isn't going to be drafted before Falcons pick. Also McFadden would demand hugh cap money as a first rounder and frankly we don't have that kind of money unless Jones plans to blow up this team.

While I agree that Jones won't trade up to #1 to get McFadden, I DO believe that he will trade up to get him. There is just too much smoke for there to be an absence of fire. I think he trades with his buddy, Al Davis. I hate it with every fiber of my being the more that I think about it, but I can't help but think that Jerry will make the idiotic move. Jerry will get distracted by the shiny object in the corner and take his eyes off the smart and methodical way of building the team, blow his wad on a high priced bust and set us back 3 years.

I know that sounds harsh, but I can't help but think that we will spend yet another draft weekend thinking "what the ****". We have the opportunity to get some real solid players in this draft and some quality depth to protect us against player defections when their contract demands don't jive with our cap situation (CB especially)and I just know Jones is going to blow his wad with visions of Adrian Peterson (whom McFadden won't even sniff as a professional) and leave us with an average back with a huge salary that has us hamstrung for years.

I was so all over drafting McFadden last year, due to the hype. And, to be honest, I knew nothing about the kid. So, in anticipation of our new toy, I tried to watch as much Arkansas football as possible this season. I saw a kid that was completely unimpressive. COMPLETELY! I saw a kid that was outplayed by his back-up. A player, that was hyped about his speed, look slower than the LBs that were chasing him. I saw a BUST! You think you're sick of seeing Julius Jones go down after a weak hit? Just wait until McFadden joins the team (at about 6 million a year more than Jones). The kid is so weak in the legs he looks like Alan Ball from the waist down. Yeah, I definitely see powerhouse there.

If I'm wrong I will be the first one on here to eat crow, but this kid is no one special, and I'm afraid Jones is going to screw the Boys out of some really decent players for JAG with a mega rich contract.

DMcFadden may not be in A. Petersons class, but he's in the same school, and its a two room building! That said, I hope management selects a corner and an offensive player cabable of providing an explosive dimension to the team.

To be fair, I was probably a little harsh on McFadden. But I don't think he's anywhere near Peterson's level. When both were in college, the comparisons were inevitable. Both had tremendous speed (yes I undersold McFadden's speed a bit in the original post), but only one had power (that's Peterson). McFaddens legs just seem to die once he takes a solid hit, whereas Peterson continues to plow forward (and that's where a majority of his yards in the NFL came after). I don't see McFadden breaking those same tackles and getting those same yards in a faster, harder hitting NFL.

Ladanian Tomlinson is in Peterson's class. Steven Jackson, Larry Johnson, Frank Gore (all when healthy) are in Peterson's class. McFadden isn't even in the same zip code. As it stands, there's ONE back in the league I would take over Peterson and that's Ladanian Tomlinson. He's the only other back in the league, right now, better than Peterson (and even that will be debateable over the next couple of years). If it's two room school, McFadden better transfer to a new district.

If your assumption is McFadden doesn't have power based upon the size of his legs, then your simply fooling yourself. McFadden has plenty of power, and more often then not, he initiates contact. He also is known for a strong stiff-arm.

Also, McFadden averaged 5 YPC in the SEC, the best defensive conference in collegege, with no QB. This means that he was more often then not, facing 9 men in the box predicated on stopping him. And he couldn't be stopped.

One more thing:

People will argue the same thing about Felix, but the fact is Felix, often gained his yards on mis-direction, when McFadden was in. He is an outside runner, unlike McFadden. McFadden is a way safer bet than Felix, simply because McFadden runs north-to-south, and is physical.

I agree with skinsscalper 100%. I watched two Arkansas games this year including the bowl debacle against Mizzou. He was soft at best: nonexistent at worst. PASS ON HIM.

I would like to continue to beat the dead horse and state my opinion.

When I watch McFadden run, he looks like a wide receiver. I don't think that's what you want to see in a running back.

I know he is considered a "special talent", but I can't imagine why Dallas would want to make a play for McFadden unless he falls closer to number ten. Barber can be a top five running back in this league and, more importantly, has a great feel for the system and a rapport with Romo as an outlet receiver. Starting running back should be set for the next five years as long as they sign him.

If they were to trade up, why not do it for a Cornerback that could help push our "D" to an elite level, then use a second or third round pick to get a scat back/return man type that would better fill a need?

is there just some screwed up rule that says we must have 4 mcfadden threads on the front page at all times?
