It is so easy to quickly blame the running back, but our OL was 99% to blame for yesterdays loss. JJ does "look" different from the end of last year but perhaps running tenatively is due to a lack of confidence in your OL. How many times this year has JJ been met in the back field or for no gain by multiple defenders? Kevin Jones is having the same problems with the Lions--another subpar OL. These two backs had similar success and pre season hype.
Bill wants to establish the run. Everyone knows this and are loading up in the box. The play calling SCREAMED for mis direction or counter yesterday and in other games. We keep running a fake screen motion but never carrying thru.
You can see flashes from JJ when there is a slight hole.
But look closer at our OL-especially the high priced left side. Larry Allen- who benches 700 Lbs got punked by Warren Sapp--he got stood up and pushed back into Bledsoes face on one occasion. And who seems to make the mental and physical mistakes that lead to break downs in critical situations--be it a false start or holding call. Allen or Adams. We dont hear much about Pettiti or Rivera.
An announcer said that there are 7-8 players left over from before Bill took over. I think it will take a total house cleaning to remove the loser mentality from this team as well as drafting and developing our own QB-instead of other teams retreads before we become serious contenders
Adams is better suited for right tackle-perhaps drafting a bonifide LT, and a replacement for Allen is plan A for the draft next spring
