It is so easy to quickly blame the running back, but our OL was 99% to blame for yesterdays loss. JJ does "look" different from the end of last year but perhaps running tenatively is due to a lack of confidence in your OL. How many times this year has JJ been met in the back field or for no gain by multiple defenders? Kevin Jones is having the same problems with the Lions--another subpar OL. These two backs had similar success and pre season hype.

Bill wants to establish the run. Everyone knows this and are loading up in the box. The play calling SCREAMED for mis direction or counter yesterday and in other games. We keep running a fake screen motion but never carrying thru.
You can see flashes from JJ when there is a slight hole.

But look closer at our OL-especially the high priced left side. Larry Allen- who benches 700 Lbs got punked by Warren Sapp--he got stood up and pushed back into Bledsoes face on one occasion. And who seems to make the mental and physical mistakes that lead to break downs in critical situations--be it a false start or holding call. Allen or Adams. We dont hear much about Pettiti or Rivera.

An announcer said that there are 7-8 players left over from before Bill took over. I think it will take a total house cleaning to remove the loser mentality from this team as well as drafting and developing our own QB-instead of other teams retreads before we become serious contenders
Adams is better suited for right tackle-perhaps drafting a bonifide LT, and a replacement for Allen is plan A for the draft next spring

I agree the Oline failed to control the LOS. Our formula for winning called for them to get JJ his 100-125. Until we either sore up the D to the point they can pitch shutouts(ain't happening anytime soon), or we must control the clock with the running game.

The running game is Emmitt's last 2 years here all over again.

how do you expect our line men to protect drew or block for jj when teams constantly use run blitzes. our offense is predictable, JJ is not allowed to juck left or right he has both hands on the ball and is not using his vision to exploit open holes. Parcells calls for straight running plays hit the hole and god forbid someone deviates from his plan. Defensive coordinators are having a field day, because parcells's run,run run plan leaves us vulnerable to the run blitz. When the defense stops using 8 men in the box maybe we will win some games. That is if parcells changes his horrible philosophy (run first, run often!)

What exactly do you think teams were doing to us down the stretch last year?

And do you honestly believe that Parcells coaches JJ to run straight no matter what, and that he's not allowed to "juck" right or left? Seriously?

Yep, maybe we should trade JJ to a team that knows how to use him. Give him a chance to be the winner he is. Man, we need help.

I Know....

HEY KOOLAID.....

wheres that big ole pitcher of red smiles. He would know how to fix the boys for sure. He kinda looks like Parcells too ya know!

eh we can get those run plays to work if we set them up good. also pass in iform when you think the other team is going to come in with the run blitz and ull open things up

Tyson Thompson didnt seem to have a problem with the Oline.

Neither did Troy Hambrick when he came in to rest Emmitt. Even the dumb Hambrick thought he was great because of the yards he was getting as a result and thought he should be the first team running back. But, we know how well that turned out. The above doesn't mean anything, if you look at the line play from the perspective of the whole game.

Ya because Al (I am getting owned) Johnson wasn't in there. When Gurode was at center our OL was pushing Oakland back.

Allen and Adams are playing horrible along with Al, but I think they should run to the right more. The 2 or 3 times they ran right, they got good yards. And even whe Marion Cunningham ran to the right, had he tried to cut it up instead of trying to bounce it outside, he would have made the first down.

The paly calling, particularly the running game is so predictable. It's always running to the left for 2 yards or less.

Tony Sporano is proving to be a poor hire as OL coach...people thought Warhop wasnt that good, but Sporano has more to work with and the results are worse

again, they could have brought back Hudson Houck, but Parcells ego probably got in the way of that one

Our whole running game is a joke.

From having a ****ty half *** O-line to having a starting running that seems to be having a terrible sophmore slump.

Stop blaming Johnson, because he was BY NO MEANS a problem yesterday. He had a VERY good game when he was in. And Gurode played almost as well. Center was never the problem yesterday -- neither of them EVER got pushed backward on a running play. The breakdowns occurred elsewhere.

I only saw bits and pieces of the game yesterday, who were the prime culprits, especially on the O-line? Any information would be much appreciated!

The prime culprits in key situations were Flozell Adams and Larry Allen. Adams got pancaked by a linebacker on one of the short-yardage running plays and missed the guy who made the tackle on second-and-2 from the 3 at the end of the game. And Allen got embarrassed by Warren Sapp on several plays.

the dirt infield seemed to be giving alot of our people problem yesterday and I didnt notice it as such a sproblem with the Raiders people...maybe they had a problem with the wrong cleats...on one of the sacks they gave up it appeared Allen slid badly in the dirt section

That's what they call a home field advantage.

That's true. DeMarcus Ware was sliding around, too, when he was trying to turn the corner around the left tackle.

I was very disappointed with the OL yesterday. In fact, I've been disappointed most of the year. I think the OL has been passable, but I guess I expect more. There are three pro-bowlers on the unit with one of the better blocking TEs much of the time, yet there are busts and penalties too many times.
