I feel bad for the players but $10-12M per year ( what now appears to be their ceiling ) is still a lot of money.

What happened to the running back market? “Blame the analytics community”

Running backs are confused. They’re angry. And for good reason.

Pro football has targeted the running back position as a vehicle for saving cap dollars that can be devoted to other positions. While it has become a major point of contention in recent weeks for the league’s current veteran running backs, it has been happening for years.

At one level, it’s a basic matter of supply and demand. Every major college produces every single year a tailback capable of performing in the NFL, if: (1) the line can open holes; (2) the player can keep possession of the ball when hit by NFL-caliber defenders; and (3) the player can be trusted to pick up blitzers in pass protection.

Haven't your heard.........................The NFL is a PASSING league!
Owners could care less.
Where have you guys been....watching tennis?????

The owners 'could care less' and still care enough to make some form of concessions to running backs. Now it would likely be a different stance if the owners could not care less since it is a passing league...

Getting upset at the pay of RB's compared to DE's or WR's is silly. It makes as much sense as comparing the salary of a surgeon to a golfer.

This is simply market forces at work, nothing more.

Long term, equilibrium is reached. Limited salary cap dollars will on average be allocated in a way that produces the most wins for a team. RB's will be compensated relative to the value they provide.

And for all his whining, Barkley has made over $38M. After this season, his career earnings will be $48,692,750. Boo freakin' hoo.

The proliferation of the Zone Blocking Scheme.

The 2018 Rams dominated the Cowboys with RB C.J.Anderson because of their version of the ZBS.

We might be brilliant grabbing a player like Luepke.

Didn't participate in the drivel threads about Zeke being the reason for the drop in value, had absolutely nothing at all to do with Zeke.

Had everything to do with roster structure and cap values per positions, every team knows this, we were just slow to the dance, as usual.

It is a passing league and pre primed for it with rules in place to take advantage of, so OfCourse its going to be QBs, WR, OL/TE and RBs in that order, they are just simply bottom priorities anymore, but does not mean that having a good bull pen of RBs with upside is devalued.

Being able to bull pen RBs that bring something early is what MM requires from this backfield, we are expecting roles defined early from the rooks MM Scheme requires this.

We are now full blown RBBC, so there is a lot of pressure on the rooks, but the roles can be defined and simplified to bring what they have already been doing well at the collegiate level.

Its asking a lot, but if Vaughn can be slowly introduced and shown to be a threat, we need that desperately, we have all seen his tape and recognize that getting Duece lose in some space and proving that threat, 5-6 plays a game maybe early.

If MM finds success with Deuce' hands out of the backfield with some mobile bodyguards, might just move a few safeties out of the box.

Pairing Duece and Luepke in the same backfield together could potentially be concerning to some defenses.
