Unless a new CBA is reached I wouldn't expect a lot of movement among top NFL players like Alexander, J. Abraham, D. Howard, and others. The reason is most will be looking to get paid and teams only being able to prorate signing bonus for 3 years will limit what they may do. Some teams like the Pats this past offseason gave Brady a large contract with a huge roster bonus to be paid this offseason in hopes a new CBA would be in place and then changing the roster bonus to a SB and prorating it over the life of the contract. So we may see other teams do the same thing. Also remember this will affect the Rookies as well. Can you imagine having the 1st pick and taking Matt L? he will be wanting a contract larger than Alex Smith's
Also note with out a new CBA then players retiring this year all of their SB's will count against next years cap they will not be able to spread it to the next season.
I expect us to stay safe in the FA markett this year. I think we could go after some mid level players but I don't really see us being as aggressive this offseason with out a new CBA.
