The GBN is pleased to announce an exciting (at least for us) new feature. Every Wednesday evening at 8 PM ET between now and the draft we will be part of an weekly internet radio broadcast focusing on the draft and related developments around the NFL. Folks can listen in at Blog Talk Radio. Chat questions can be sent at the show site and we will be taking caller questions. Should be fun!***

(12:01 AM): GBN Draft Show back on air ... Just a reminder that the GBN Draft Show will be back on the internet air tonight at 8 PM ET with a preview of the scouting combine as well as the latest on draft happenings around the NFL. Folks can listen in at Blog Talk Radio. Chat questions can be sent at the show site and we will be taking caller questions.

Combine by the numbers … The annual scouting combine gets underway later this afternoon in Indianapolis and runs through next Tuesday. The offensive linemen and TEs will be the first to arrive in Indianapolis, although the actual on-field testing doesn’t start until Saturday. And while there is something of a debate just how much stock NFL teams should put in combine results in putting together their draft boards, there is no question that the road to the draft runs through Indianapolis as the large majority of players that are ultimately selected this year will be at the combine. Here’s a quick preview of the 2010 combine by the numbers. That said, Len Pasquerelli of ESPN has a piece on some of the NFL's big names who weren't invited to the combine.

Who isn’t looking to trade down … The NFL is abuzz as everyone heads to Indianapolis for this week’s scouting combine that just about all of the teams with early picks at the 2010 draft have actively discussed trading its pick and moving out of its spot. Indeed, there is a virtual crescendo of rumblings that St. Louis, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Washington and possibly even Kansas City, which hold the 1st through the 5th picks at this coming April’s draft are looking to trade and acquire extra picks. Unfortunately for the Rams et al it isn’t clear that while ther are multiple teams looking to trade back, there is the usual scarcity of teams looking to trade up. Few teams want to move up in drafts and pay rookies the kind of mega bucks the NFL is trying to get away from in the latest round of contract talks.

What others are saying … For those that haven’t seen either piece, Seth Weatherspoon over at ESPN has an interesting article on the potential impact of the current labor issues on the upcoming draft. Meanwhile, Peter King of SI.com asks who cares about the combine after talking with an unidentified NFL personnel person who obviously doesn’t , although two words - Chris Johnson - might make an interesting rejoinder!
