I haven't done a mock in a long time. Before my kids got older, I had tons of time to watch games, and visit websites devoted to the draft.

Now, most of the players I watch are 8 and 9 year olds. Let me be perfectly clear about that....my son plays so I watch his games....I'm not a pedofile.

Anyway, I'll give this a go. I've gotta say, I have no clear idea what direction we're going to go. On one hand, I still think we have a ton of talent on this team. On the other hand, we have a ton of needs on this team. I think of all the teams in the top ten, we have the most difficult decision.

We could try to shore up the secondary...but I believe great teams are built from the lines out. We may lose three DL to FA. Our OL has aged quickly. I don't truly trust Dez yet....so, I think a case can be made for Julio Jones. I don't believe in any of our RBs....so, Ingram is a possibility.

For my mock, I'm going to go with the belief that the courts will stop the lockout and we'll have another year like 2010. We'll resign Bowen, Kosier, and Sensabaugh. I think we bring in Huff and Kirk Morrison, too.

First round: First of all, I'm not sad at all about moving down three spots for the Philly win. I think that win cemented Garrett as our HC, and the players on this team will see that this organization is committed to winning. Of course, we will more than likely lose out on Peterson. I would love to see us shore up the secondary, but I'm not sold on Prince. I also love the DL in the draft. I think our silence on Jordan speaks LOUDLY. I really think we're interested in him. I almost want to pick him. But right now, many of the people "in the know" are talking Smith. He may be the third of fourth best OL in the draft now....but three years from now he may wind up being the best. We need to see to our OL. They've aged quicker than I could've guessed.

With the 9th pick, Dallas selects: Tyron Smith, OT USC

Second Round: Again, lots of possibilities here. Right now, I love the potential of our DL. Bowen, Ratliff, Price, Olshansky...I think Lissemore may show something. If Taylor is somehow here, I sprint to the desk with his card. However, I think he goes in round one. I think CBs are usually overdrafted. Peterson and Amukamara are two that I think are REAL first rounders. But, I think Smith and Aaron Williams with both go in round one. Harris will drop. I think he can definitely be developed and brought along at a slower pace here.

With the 40th pick, Dallas selects: Brandon Harris, CB Miami

Third Round: I've said that DL is an area I like....but I still believe we can upgrade there. We missed out on Phil Taylor. I think it may be wishful thinking for Ellis to still be here with our third round pick. Because, how often do 6-5 330 pound strong/fast guys grow on trees? But, there are character issues with him, and he played at Hampton. Ratliff is a true leader on defense. If you want a mentor for Ellis....can't pick a better man.

With the 71st pick, Dallas selects: Kenrick Ellis, DT Hampton

Fourth Round: This is the area of the draft where I think you really build your team. I think drafting OL in this area is a great idea. WR is a possibility here too. There should be some solid WRs available. I also would LOVE to see us draft the heir to Brady James soon. But watching Leonard Davis the past couple of years has been painful. I truly think he's sliding. We have few options at OG. Moffitt is one of my pet cats. I think he fits our mold of OL. Big, tough....and versatile. He can play center, too.

With the fourth round pick, Dallas selects: John Moffitt, OG Wisconsin

Fifth Round: Ok, here's where the money is made by scouts....ANNNND, this is also the most difficult for armchair draftniks to predict. Who knows what will be available? So much of what mockers pick here comes from magazines and websites, and what they WISH would happen. I think you go with the BPA at this point in the draft. I would LOVE to see Andy Dalton on the board. But, I think he goes in round three. I'm not sold on many safeties, although I think we need to get one sometime. RB is a need too, IMO. But I think the best available athlete here will be Dontay Moch. Now, I know Jason Williams was a bust. But he never played at a high level in college. Moch has. Admittedly, he is a project. But if anything, I think he can be a stud STer. I would love to see us coach him up as an ILB. Tough transition.....

With their fifth round pick, Dallas selects: Dontay Moch, LB Nevada

Sixth Round: Again, BPA reigns here. I'm not going to pretend I know what's going to be here. I think anyone's guess is as good as mine.

With their sixth round pick, Dallas selects: Alex Green, RB Hawaii

Seventh Round: Two seventh rounders here. Lots of fun here. I love idea of taking a project like the Colorado school of the Mines guy....But, I can't put in a guy that I can't remember his name (my silly mock rules). At this point in the draft, I think you take SIZE or athleticism.

With their first seventh round pick, Dallas selects: Dejon Gomes, Safety Nebraska.

With their second seventh round pick, Dallas selects: Mike Blanc, DT Auburn....hey, maybe lightning can strike twice with a seventh round DL from Auburn?

I wish I had more time to research. I just don't anymore. I do think we'll wind up trading down sometime in the draft. Movement is a certainty when Jones is in charge of the draft. I may try to do a draft in the future where we make trades, but I have to keep reminding myself to not over estimate what we'll get in return.

Anyway....feel free to rip it.

Nahh....I just wanted a cute, witty title like everyone else.

Rip away.....

I like it, the first four rounds especially. Harris in the 2nd would be a great grab.

I second that. Love the first four picks.

I really like the first 4 picks.

I think they could also be starters for the Cowboys either immediately or within a couple of years. And that's what we need, a draft with guys who can step up.

Bizwah, I was thinking where is the S in the first 3-4 rounds but then saw that you resigned Sensabaugh and Huff.

Can't argue really with any of the first 4 although I am not enamored with Ellis. I am one that really doesn't like taking the "bad apple" type. But sticking with the top 4, here would be the rest of my draft.

1 - Smith OT
2 - Harris CB
3 - Ellis DT
4 - Moffit G/C
5 - Henry Hynoski - FB - Pitt
6 - Scott Lutrus - ILB - UConn
7 - Jah Reid - OT - UCF
7 - Aldrick Robinson - WR - SMU

Smith + Harris is my dream scenario w our 1st two picks

I watched every single game Harris played this year. I absolutely adore him, and I'm 99.999% positive he'll develop into a solid #2 corner behind Jenkins in 2 years tops.

Of course, I'm totally biased.

It's all about the []_[]

It's all about the double 0? Was that his HS #?

That doesn't look much like a U LOL

I love the Jah Reid pick. If he's there in round seven you take him.

This right here is the way to go. Hynoski and Reid are great picks!
