But Mike Alstott is more than likely to hit the FA market this year. He was contemplating retirement at the end of the season, but has said that he wants to play at least one more year.

I think we should at least make a run at him, although it'll be hard to get him away from Tampa. But on NFL network, they also said that Tampa has cap issues to worry about, and might not want to "waste" the money on a one or two year deal for him. We definately could have used him in goalline situations as well as short yardage. As much as BP likes to throw to the FB in the flat, when we have one with hands (Richie Anderson), he'd be a much need addition to play FB....

I'd rather have a blocking fullback that will get my running back more yards rather than trying to get them himself.

I agree that he would be good in goaline and short yardage situations (which the Cowboys need!) but that's about it. That means we'd need another fullback and Bill ain't keeping two of 'em.

I think if you look at his stats from last year, you'll realize that he doesn't worry about how many yards he gets for himself. The only time that he got any signifigant yardage was when Cadillac was hurt.

I'd put money on Sowell, Parcells has shown nothing but man love for him in the past

hes been around the block a little too much I think. Hes good, but I am not sure how much further down the road he can go. I would be leary with Alstott.

Alstott really isn't a full back. He is a big tail back. At this point in his career, there isn't much he can add to a team. He is not a strong blocker, nor is he a good receiver. Barber has shown a good nose for the endzone in goal line situations. Dallas is in a decent position as far as running backs. I don't think they are set and this will be the season for Julius Jones to prove if he is they guy or not. I just don't think they need a very limited, situational player such as Alstott. There will be better options out there in both free agency and the draft.

I'm still hoping Tyson Thompson can become our short yardage guy. He's big for a running back. And he hits those holes fast!

Alstott has VERY good hands... that is one point I can't let you get away with....;)
