I read a post about how Parcells mentioned the fact that the Giants were +9 in turnover differential, but don't read too much into that fact. I did a little research and here are the results....

1. The Giants have forced a total of 13 turnovers this year, compared to their 4 giveaways.

2.. The Giants forced 3 Interceptions and recovered 3 fumbles against the NO Saints.

3. They forced 3 more interceptions and recover 2 fumbles against the STL Rams.

Here is the kicker though. As impressive as those two games are this is why it doesn't bother me too much...

1. The Saints are tied for the lead with 17 turnovers.
2. The Rams are tied for fourth with 13 turnovers on the year.
3. Both teams were down huge and passing EVERY down. All 3 INTs from Bulger came in the fourth quarter while they were trying to come back.
4. 2 of those interceptions came with :35 or left in the fourth quarter.
5. One fumble in the Saints game had nothing to do with defense (the on where Horn was reaching for the goal line and dropped the ball out of the endzone).
6. Contrary to popular belief, Bledsoe isn't a big risk in the passing game. If you take out the Hail Mary at half time of the Raiders game he's only been picked 2 times. Same amount as Manning ( the younger one )
7. In case you're wondering the other two INTs came against the Cardinals. One was K. Warner 12:06 left in the 3rd. And the other was McCown, with 1:06 left in the 4th.
8. 3 of the 8 INTs came within the las 1:06 of the game when teams were already put away. 5 of the 8 came in the 4th quarter.

So the key to not turning it over is.........Don't trail them in the 4th Quarter to where you HAVE to pass all the time. Sounds easy enough.:starspin :jints:

Good research dude. Also Bill Parcells always talk another team up about their best stats before we play them. He doesnt give any buletin board material to opponents

It can also be said that the reason the other teams are at the bottom of the league in TOs is because they played the Giants.

Remember, we've only had 5 games.......Maybe the Giants are good after all?

Yeah but the Saints still had 12 turnovers in the other 4 games. That is still 3 TO's per game. And the Rams had 7, still almost a 2 per game average. So, atleast in the Saints case, I think they're just that bad, and the Rams always turn it over alot.

Great research, fantastic post. The Giants have really been fattening up on mediocre to bad opponents with a penchant for turning the ball over. They get the ball in good field position early and often against these teams. The one team they've faced with any semblance of a balanced attack, they get destroyed by.

New here, so don't know if anyone else pointed it out - but, the Cards and Saints really limited Plax and Shockey. In those games, Eli completed less than 50% of his passes, and threw 3 TDs and 2 INTs. Hmmmmm, sounds like someone's having trouble reading defenses if you take away his top two options....

Excellent Post and well researched. Makes me feel a little better about this game. but Eli is still progressing better than I expected. D still needs to come up big again.

So the key to winning is having a lead in the 4th quarter.... really?!? ;)

Yes. Statistically speaking, the later in the 4th quarter that you are leading, the better your chances of winning. For example, if you are leading with .001 seconds left, your chances of winning are very good. Of course the size of your lead has some bearing on the probability of winning...

If you want to win, have the lead with no time left!!!

It might have been my post you are referring to. However, my reason for bringing it up is that I thought this was the reason they were winning. I also thought this was a trend that could not possibly hold up. I mean who has a plus 40 turnover ratio by the end of the season. Bad teams turnover the ball. Give the Giants credit for being +9, but this explains why they score so much and why they have a 3-1 record. Who have the Giants beat that scares us? I say knowone. This team is gonna come down to earth real fast on Sunday IMHO.

My Point: Are we gonna throw the ball until they stop us or are we gonna play conservative like we have before the Philly game. We have balance. Throw the ball until they take the 8th man out of the box. Once they do, run the ball. Our early attempts this season on running the ball no matter how much teams tried to stop the run is stupid. Sometimes you have to open up the run by throwing the pass. Darn it, give drew the rock.

I have a problem with the perception that they have a weak pass defense when they have 8 ints. They may give up yards, but they also make plays in the secondary.
