Don't say it, Troy chap, don't end my dream of you as our GM

Hiring a GM changes nothing unless they change their operating procedure. It's still Jerry's money. If the Cowboys don't sign high priced free agents, what difference does it make if Jerry doesn't do it, or doesn't allow the new GM to do it? I used FA as just one example.

You do understand that the team is good now?

It was always my dream scenario that, when Tom Landry retired, Dan Reeves would be the next HC of the Cowboys. When Jerry hired Dan Reeves as a consultant, I thought it would be the precursor to Jerry finally stepping down and doing the right thing.

Dan didn't last a day before he saw the writing on the wall. That's how intelligent he was.

Troy is pretty smart too. Even if he was named GM, he wouldn't be the GM in practice. He would be a puppet with limited duties.

Anyone who thinks Booger is going to turn the decision making over to a GM and stay out of it hasn't been paying attention. He is incapable of that.

I know, as long as Jerald breathes, no one else will be our GM. And Jimmy won't be in the ROH.
But don't you suburban chaps and assorted river people wish, like me, that Troy Aikman would one day be our GM.
Hard-nosed manager on steroids, blokes!
Holla!
Not sure what makes people think Troy would be a great GM....seems to me he is closer to Matt Millen or John Elway than Ozzie Newsome or even John Lynch.
