Don't shoot me, but I'd rather see the 49ers beat the Chiefs in the SB

If the Cowboys can't be in the Super Bowl, I would rather see a team that's never won it, such as the Vikings, the Bills, or the Browns, get it. Since that's not possible, it's either going to be the Chiefs or the 49ers. Blech. Not the matchup I wanted. The Chiefs are defending champs, and I'd rather not see them repeat. I'd rather have someone else win it, and the 49ers haven't won it in a very long time. It's been one year longer than the Cowboys. I've never rooted for the 49ers in any of their Super Bowls, especially after they kicked my heart out in the '81 NFCC, which we were about an inch from winning. However, that was a long time ago, and this is not that same 49ers team. Plus, I respect Coach Shanahan. I also like the story of the last guy picked in the draft winning the Super Bowl as a QB. I guess that would be kind of cool. Plus, the area where I live in (Omaha, NE) has Chiefs shirts all over the place, and I'm getting sick and tired of it.
...
Yes, I know the Elephant in the room is their victory would mean that they have more Lombardis than the Cowboys. However, that's inevitable when Jerry mismanages this team for 28 years. JJ should expect other teams to pass us up. The alternative would be the Chiefs having 4, only being one game behind us and with an organization very capable of getting several more. On a scale of 1 to 10 my motivation for a Chiefs victory would be about a 3, while for the 49ers it's about a 4, so Niners it is. If the Cowboys were playing, it would be a 10. So if the 49ers get it, it will be like, "Ho-hum, that 'Mr Irrelevant' Brock Purdy kid got it; that's nice."
...
Maybe there's also a tiny chance that if Jerry sees a 9ers SB win, he'll be like, "They know what they're doing. Maybe we should emulate them." [Light bulb appears above Jerry's head]. "Their owner isn't involved, and instead hired a qualified GM. I should do that." I know that's grasping for straws. The bottom line is, this SB sucks regardless of which team wins. I scraped the barrel for a feel good story, and the ultra underdog in Purdy is all I could find. I could have gotten more excited about long-suffering fans like Vikes or Bills fans getting it. That would have brought it up to about a 7. Only a Cowboys appearance can bring that up to a 10.
...
Therefore, it's: "All right ..." [Half-hearted clapping] "Go, 49ers, get Purdy his ring." But don't blame me if I fall asleep during the game or switch to watching Youtube videos.
...
Oh, and one more thing. It might be amusing to see Taylor Swift all bummed out that her boyfriend's team lost.

End of the day, I can take comfort in either team losing.

I root against SF even in preseason games. Why would I want a HATED rival winning a super bowl?
NFC team for one?

Chiefs fans will become unbearable on their "Dynasty"?

Hopefully Taylor Swift will be shown minimally on TV if she makes the game?

It's not really what I want. I'm just sick and tired of hearing how great the Chiefs are. Plus, I'll laugh if they show Taylor Swift all disappointed. And let's have an NFC team win it. However, it's a little bit like choosing between having a brick dropped on your foot or getting your hand slammed in the door. Neither option is any good, and they don't allow ties in the Super Bowl. If it were possible for a tie game, I would root for that.

NFC team for one? - I am not a fan of the NFC, I am a fan of the Cowboys. Also, most of our rivals, including the 49ers, play in the NFC. I would rather a team in the AFC win, except for the Steelers.

Chiefs fans will become unbearable on their "Dynasty"? - I don't know any TRUE Chiefs' fans so I could care less. The few bandwagoners I know weren't fans when the Chiefs' Super Bowl run began a few years ago. They don't talk smack because they aren't true fans and if the Cowboys starting winning they would hop on our bandwagon. Most of the people I know root for Mahomes because he is from Texas.

Hopefully Taylor Swift will be shown minimally on TV if she makes the game? - Not sure why people are bothered by a few shots of Taylor Swift? I would rather see shots of her that Mahomes' wife.

Isn't doesn't make one bit of difference which conference wins the super bowl. Never has.

I live right in the middle of Chief territory. You don't think they aren't already unbearable??? Trust me, they are. The local endorsements (meaning commercials and billboards) are never ending. Think about those State Farm commercials on the best steroids ever made.

Taylor Swift will be at the game. There is no way she is missing the super bowl. I believe the odds of her being shown on TV are 6.5 and I would take the over.

I'm kind of with the OP because Mahomes is stupid. His hair and his voice are annoying. The way his helmet looks like it barely sits on his head is dumb. His wife is an entitled brat, who I'd personally be embarrassed to be with. His brother is the same, but just add sex offender as well. I've never had any feelings toward Taylor Swift, but now she gets in my nerves. Yes, I understand she can't control the cameras, but she puts herself out there for the cameras. Here's the thing: there are going to be 5 or 6 other teams that pass us up in Lombardis, and I honestly believe we aren't even going to get #6....ever.

Luckily I live in rural NC, so I don't really know about Cheifs fans LOL

Genearlly speaking, no matter where I lived for work, if the football team is good in the area I was living, pretty much all the fans are unbearable from my experience.

Luckily, not a lot of either of those fans around me.

I really don't get all the Swift hate. People are so weird with the things that set them off these days.

Anyway, my 9y daughter loves her (early music) and now has started taking an interest in football. While she was waiting to get glimpses of her at the games she started asking questions about different rules when there was a flag, what does zone defense mean, what's a running back etc..

And THAT is exactly why the NFL is pushing her.

Can't say I hate someone I don't know, but I'm sick and tired that if I'm stuck watching a Chiefs game, they have to keep showing her on TV.

The Swift effect is a real thing. Local news covered it and the amount of merch sold to her fan base is quite remarkable. The spike was striking. They said most of her fans aren't football fans or follow football but now they are all Chief fans.

If they win on Sunday the merch sales will be staggering. Chiefs already had a big fan base before.

So? I'm excited to have my daughter now sharing another common interest with me. Thanks NFL, thanks Taylor Swift!

Sorry it makes you so angry for the camera to show her during the games.

At the end of the day, what the NFL shows on TV doesn't really affect my life.

It's great that a singer got your daughter into football!

FYI, end of the day, the NFL is only hoping to get money from your daughter. But I'm sure you already knew that.

Of course I know that. Just like they're trying, and succeeding, to get money from all of us. That's what every company and business is doing...trying to get your money. I do the same thing with my business. That's just the way of things. I can't be mad about it, it's still my choice what I spend my money on, just as it will be hers.

Agreed.

Other than watching NFL games on TV, the NFL gets no money from me.

That said, if it's something you and your daughter can bond over per wathcing NFL games, great. Heck, my own boys were never insterested in watching NFL games LOL

The Chiefs are going to win. We will see Taylor Swift hoist the Lombardi trophy.
