A lesson to take from our hated rivals...
Don't skimp on draft evaluation. Don't be afraid to take BPA!
Sixteen of the 22 Super Bowl starters for the Eagles were drafted by the team. Since 2021, they've had 13 picks in the first 3 rounds.
2021 Pick 10 - Devonta Smith Pick; 37 - Landon Dickerson; Pick 73 - Milton Williams
2022 Pick 13 - Jordan Davis; Pick 51 - Cam Jurgens; Pick 83 - Nakobe Dean; Pick 198 - Grant Calcaterra
2023 Pick 9 - Jalen Carter; Pick 30 - Nolan Smith; Pick 65 - Tyler Steen; Pick 66 - Sydney Brown
2024 Pick 22 - Quinyon Mitchell; Pick 40 - Cooper Dejean; Pick 94 - Jalyx Hunt
And that isn't counting Reed Blankenship who was an UDFA in 2022, but plays a ton. Or 2018 2nd round pick Dallas Goedart. Or 2019 7th rd pick Jordan Mailata, or 2020 2nd round pick Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts. (not counting Old Man Johnson from 2013 or Brandon Graham, who will 99.9% retire). Only Sydney Brown didn't contribute much due to injury.
These weren't lucky picks. They studied every player and decided that they could contribute. Even Mailata, as Roseman convinced Stoutland to go to the IPP in Tampa to work him out. This is a young team that will be a thorn in our side for years to come. We need to truly somehow acquire top-level draft evaluators. And yes, they missed with Reagor and that other WR (Whiteside) and Dillard, but there hit/miss ratio is impressive. This isn't by accident.
The foundation of this team was built through the draft. It helps to have someone in charge that knows what they are doing. Instead, we have the Jones Boys. Ugh.
