Don't we have to resign Jason Hatcher now?

I mean, we're not going to pay big money for Jenkins and IMO it's not worth it to. He got a lot of sacks off of hustle and that's the kind of player he is. He's not a mammoth run defender and he's also not the interior pass rusher than Ratliff is so there's no need overpaying for him.

Having said that, Ratliff is our only accomplished interior rusher now. All of the other guys are just bodies and run stuffers, including Coleman, who was taken off the field on 3rd downs while playing for the Browns.

You might not like Hatcher as a player but he was still our 3rd best interior rusher, brought into the games behind Rat and Bowen. And I believe he had as much potential as both of those guys but that's just me.

Even if it means cutting Igor I think we have to get a second rusher. Or even a backup rusher to Rat, if Ryan is going to play 3rd downs with one defensive lineman.

Depends on his demands but we can't afford to be too cheap on this right now.

I believe we made him an offer and he refused. Time to say buh bye!

Different system. In San Antonio now, and passing situations have seen more interesting combos. Look to see a lot of Anthony Spencer in a lot of places.

No, we now have Coleman, Lissemore, and Brent to rotate in on the DL. I'm fine with that depth chart.

Hatcher already turned down the Cowboys offer. The only way to have kept him is if he came really cheap. The guy has been a great disappointment for the amount of talent he possesses. And Rob Ryan uses more LBs than normal in his nickel pass rush situations so they don't necessarily need another DL like that.

No to Hatcher, the Cowboys could use another DE though.

Depends how we move him around. Last year pretty much every time we moved him around it was so that we could get a better matchup for Ware. Spencer had a down year -- and a huge part of that is that he doesn't seem to give it his all when the team starts going south (see also, Mike Jenkins and Leonard Davis in that group). But he really did get sacrificed for Ware's production over and over

We already have Spears, Rat, Igor, Coleman, Lissemore, Brent. Those guys will have 95 percent of the playing time already.

Do we need to sign Hatcher? No.

Need more depth

I believe Coleman gives us alot of depth.

We may need one more player to fill out the rotation, but the point was, its not a necessity that we sign Hatcher. The last guy we bring in should be a young pup that has some talent that we can try to develop. A guy we can get on the cheap. Don't need a vet like Hatcher that pretty much isn't going to develop anymore than he already has.

We've had our share of mediocre DEs and Hatcher was at the forefront of that list. You'd think there should be someone out there for us who represents an improvement on what he had to offer. It's not like he wasn't afforded the time and opportunities to prove himself in Dallas.

Don't we need more LBs with this defense? We are pretty thin at LB.

Kirk Morrison is still out there.
Stephen Tulloch.
Matt Roth.
Tim Shaw.

All guys i wouldn't mind picking up if we feel like we need more LB's.

O-Ware, Spencer, Butler, B. Williams; I-James, Brooking, Lee, Carter

There's eight right there.

Here's the rest:

O-Albright, Daniels
Cummings, Balogun, Greenhouse

Yeah but few of them are JAG. Brooking is pretty old. Lee needs to stay healthy and Carter won't be ready till season begins at the earliest.

Come to think of it this defense worries me quite a bit.

Did Barnett from Packers get signed? I like him and he's pretty young.

JAG.. the most overused term on this board.

So sick of seeing it, everyone on your team isn't going to be a star.

Lee and Carter are far from average players. Everyone we keep on the team has a role to play and we feel like they are the best available to succeed at that role. We don't keep guys just to have them take up space.
