Jimmy was one, Switz had the swagger. That's the way we should be going. A Stoops, a Miles, a Neuheisel type. Mr. Nice Guy types don't cut it. The coach needs to inspire fear. I don't like what's happening here.

Neuheisel? you got some issue. The guy is not that good of a coach even by college standards.

The drill sargeant coaches need the best coordinators around them, or they will fail. Coaches like Belichik and Dungy dont inspire fear because they are doing most of the X's and O's.

Took the words right out of my mouth, although I do think of Parcells as a cocky a**hole in an affectionate way.

I think a lot of the problems with T.O. came from the fact that the two "men" (and I put "men" in quotation marks because they acted like little boys at times) were so much alike that they annoyed the heck out of one another. Sure...Parcells is old school and T.O. is prima donna, but they both have huge egos, are used to having things go their way, and are both not willing to admit when they've done wrong.

They were too much alike, I tell ya. So maybe another cocky a**hole for a coach might not be a good idea.

Neuheisel is a good coach, he coached Aikman at UCLA (QB coach). Get Troy's opinion.

Yes he did and having a guy with some very good talent to start with helps but the job he did no colorado was nothing special at all. He goes to Washington and creates a big mess there. Neuheisel would be a total waste in Dallas. As for Garrett being Mr. Nice Guy you don't know that to be true one way or the other right now. As a coach he may be very demanding none of us know right now.

i don't mind cockey - i prefer it. i prefer the swagger of an irvin over the nothing of so many other players.

the coach needs to have a fire and a hunger to win. most of all, he needs a plan more than a "system" and he needs to drop off the 4/3 3/4 talk and just say something stupid like "we'll run what makes sense at the time based on the opposing offense and our defensive talents...

garrett is noted for being a very smart man. looks like we're about to find out how smart.

I want a HC who wants things done his way, he is the coach and the one held accountable in the end. Players may have opinion but the coaches opinion is the only one that matters

And yet they've both built championship-caliber teams. Dungy with two. Don't need fear when your plan is executed properly.

Drill sergeant coaches aren't bad if they know what they're doing. Parcells was able to last quite awhile with that approach because he was so intelligent. But a fiery dumb coach will get a team in trouble every time.
