Wentz (or Lynch), Doctson and K. Dixon 1,2,3 and I would be happy. Our D did OK last year our offense was weak.

Drew Boylhart (The Huddle Report) PARAPHRASED...

Josh Doctson WR TCU

STRENGTHS
Good against man coverage. He has nice size, and speed, and is a quick-twitch athlete. Aggressive catcher with excellent hands. Quick feet and good lateral agility. Fearless going over the middle. Can be used as a deep-ball receiver or a move-the-chains receiver. Gives good effort when blocking.

CONCERNS
Plays in a system that dictates single coverage and simplified route running. He runs his routes at one speed, and must learn to change gears. He must also learn to run the entire route tree, and become better at reading coverages. He lacks the bulk necessary to take the pounding that a possession receiver sustains. He's a one-dimensional WR, and may not get much better than he is now.

TALENT BOARD ROUND: 3
He's a talented WR, with a excellent catching radius and good blocking skills. But, he hasn't got substantially better and refined the skills necessary for the NFL level. He hasn't improved he route running each year, which makes me question his work ethic. He only runs a handful of routes, and he only runs them at one speed. He runs each route as fast as he can, and doesn't change gears in order to set up a DB. He'll need to put on 15lbs of muscle, without it affecting his quickness, and learn to run an NFL route tree. The fact that he hasn't gotten better each year sends up a red flag questioning whether he has the work ethic needed to learn the skills necessary to be a successful NFL WR. Until that question is answered, I view him as a #3 type developmental WR and nothing more. If he puts in the work and improves, he'll be a 3-down WR that can impact a team.

Glad to see them giving the WR position some attention. Looks like something could happen in Rds. 2-4 if the right player (WR) is available.

Broaddus seems to think there is a good chance they go WR at 34 even with all that good D Line material still available.

Depending on who's available when we pick a 4 I'm torn between trading down and adding three or four picks or taking a shot at getting an elite player. That would give them a chance to appease the offense and still have picks to improve the defense.

That's not the only way.

The only two ways Doctson ends up a Cowboy is as said, we trade back and get other picks and then take him OR he magically slides to us at 34.

There ain't a frog's chances in hell the Cowboys would trade up to get him in the late first round.

We have way too many picks this year. I can absolutely see us trading up for him.

We only have 3 picks in the Top three rounds. Those later round picks are useless for trying to move up into the first round to get him. If the Cowboys want Doctson and have to get into the 20s to get him, they'd have to give up their 2nd and 3rd round picks.

You doing that?

Doctson might not fall to #34, and I doubt we trade up from that spot to get a wide receiver. But watch out for Listenbee with one of our fourth-round picks, if he's available.

Yes.

Not selecting a RB this year, most likely. The roster is fairly stacked with talent at key positions.

If we draft Ramsey at 4, I would trade those picks for Doctson. Already added Thornton to the line.

There's lot of DL who will be taken in the first, which means that many of these players you don't see falling to the second will fall to the second. Right now, if you read enough, there are 45 players who are sure to go in the first round.
