And to think, we nearly gave Randy Gregory all that money and would have surely let Armstrong walk

Armstrong got less than I thought *and* we signed him for 2 years instead of one. I love getting that extra year when a guy exceeds expectations.

Well, if Armstrong continues playing at this level........ his next contract is going to make to Randy's look like a deal. He's signed on a bargain basement 2 year, 12M deal in the offseason.

I like that he's giving this kind of effort knowing his next pay day is 2 years away. Its taken DLAW 4 seasons to look like the guy who signed his huge contract.

I can't figure out if Armstrong is just improved this much in the off season or simply lacked opportunity in previous years. Where have they been hiding this guy? lol

I loved the Superman blocked punt. The only time Gregory did something like that he was diving for his bong.
Gregory tried punt blocking and he got flagged for roughing the punter twice. Once was a killer against the Saints, kept their drive alive and they got a TD. We won the game 13-10, but it shouldn't have been that close. Gregory is just undisciplined **

I was saying all along that Armstrong produced better than Gregory for a lot less money. But he seems to be playing on a higher level this year. Maybe it’s because they are letting him play and do his thing.

yeah but we usually ignore what you say because it’s usually crazy

In this case, you know, blind squirrel….nut

I like Armstrong better as a rotation guy, but he may be better as a pure pass rusher than half RDE starters around the NFL.

i watch players vs the better players, and the better pass blocking LTs can probably lock him down.
With the more mediocre OTs he can show up far more.

Armstrong is not overly athletic and not overpowering powerful, and he's occasionally have issues vs run, but he also seems to have a knack for pass rushing,
He can take advantage of the lesser OTs.
Maybe Chauncey Golston can end up being like this in due time.

The heir apparent guy at RDE i believe is Sam Williams, who such an powerful athlete with surprising power.core.

If Dorance had left I wouldn't have thought much of it. I was pretty convinced he really was "Just a guy." It looks like I was wrong. Not just because he's on pace for double digit sacks. He's also disrupting the game in lots of other ways.

As far as run defense, I'd like to see all of our guys step up. That said, teams aren't scoring against us...which is the most important stat any defense can point to.

Armstrong is quietly going about his business. Never gets much attention just goes out and does his job.

I or we must apologize to Stephen for blowing the Randy Gregory contract. I must admit I was disappointed but Armstrong is a beast, #2 behind #11

Yep. Completely unexpected but welcomed. But that's just me. Everything I seem to expect turns up opposite. And I really don't care if the end result is favorable.

As I’ve said many, many times on here, I trust NFL coaches’ and scout’s opinions quite a bit more than posters on a message board who think they know everything.

We should be able to .... but ya gotta admit there have been a lot of decisions that we were right about that it took them forever to get right.
