This could be a good fit with immediate impact in the Eagles secondary.

In an effort to jumpstart the interest in him, Indianapolis free-agent safety Mike Doss has switched agents, hiring Drew Rosenhaus.

Mike Doss is shopping himself in a free-agent market that has slowed. And Rosenhaus wasted little time scheduling new visits for his client.
Rosenhaus has Doss visiting the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday and the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday. Doss' trip to Philadelphia will be a return engagement. The two sides visited earlier this offseason but were unable to work out a deal.
Doss also has visited Tampa Bay and is one of the top free agents left on a thinned-out market. For the right team, in the right situation, Doss could come in and make an immediate impact.

The last notable thing Mike Doss did was tear McGahee's Knee out in the Fiesta Bowl.

I hope the Eagles sign him as he is maybe 5'10 and is a injury prone.

He posts this in a Cowboy's Forum, like what we are supposed to be scared of a Small, injury prone safety?. Sounds like he's bragging for no reason.

I really liked Doss when he was coming out...

hope the Eagles don't get him and resurrect his career ala Jeff Garcia (even though he hasn't had much of a career)

He still has SOME talent.

I would rather talk about that than Doss, seriously.

Maybe he had a BLT?

A rookie replaced him when he was injured. There is a slight difference.

Doss is ok. He's had a history of injuries, and that's why his career never blossomed. He's better than Michael Lewis, but that's not saying much. By getting Drew Rosenhaus he might have killed any shot at signing with Philly since the FO can't stand Drew.

I'm guessing Minnesota will sign him, or nobody.

This dude could lay the wood in college. His pro career hasn't gone as smoothly.

He's worth a look for the Iggies.

Nailed it. Signed with Minnesota. I knew when Rosenhaus was hired the Eagles wouldn't sign the guy.

Free agent Doss, ex-Colts safety, set to visit Birds

By Bob Brookover

Inquirer Staff Writer

The Eagles may not be finished with the free-agent portion of their off-season, and once again they could be looking for a former member of the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts to help them. Strong safety Mike Doss, a second-round draft pick by the Colts in 2003, is scheduled to visit the Eagles today after spending yesterday with the Minnesota Vikings.
Doss, 26, was limited to six games last season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, which he suffered Oct. 22 in a game against Washington. That's the same day the Colts lost defensive tackle Montae Reagor for the season after he was in a car accident while driving to the game.
Reagor, 29, signed a three-year contract with the Eagles last month, paving the way for the trade that sent defensive tackle Darwin Walker to Buffalo for linebacker Takeo Spikes last week.
Doss, who recently replaced agent Tom Condon with Drew Rosenhaus, started 38 games in his first three seasons with the Colts after being drafted out of Ohio State. He was not a starter, however, at the beginning of last season. He returned to the Colts' starting lineup two games into the season because of a knee injury to safety Bob Sanders. That role was short-lived because of the torn ACL.
It's never a good situation, of course, for a free agent to be looking for work while rehabilitating a serious knee injury, which probably explains why Doss still does not have a job more than a month into the free-agent period. He also has some baggage from the past. He was suspended for the opening game of the 2005 season after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor gun charge in June of that year. The native of Canton, Ohio, was arrested in May 2005 for firing a gun outside a restaurant in Akron, Ohio.
Contrary to some published reports, Doss has not made any previous visits with the Eagles. In addition to his visit with the Vikings yesterday, he made a trip to Tampa Bay during the first week of free agency.
The Eagles need depth at the safety position after allowing strong safety Michael Lewis to leave via free agency. Lewis, who lost his starting job to Sean Considine seven games into last season, signed with San Francisco. Considine, at least for the moment, is the projected starter at strong safety, although there is some belief that he is better equipped to play free safety.
Considine was inserted for Lewis because he was more reliable in coverage situations, but he had problems at times playing against the run. Eagles general manager Tom Heckert said earlier this off-season that Considine is working on adding bulk and weight. The only other safety with NFL experience on the Eagles' roster is Quintin Mikell, who signed a four-year contract extension just before he became eligible for free agency last month. It seems likely that the Eagles will take a safety at some point in the draft later this month.

This is business ...should have nothing to do with personal feelings for Rosenhaus

Looks like another 'swing and miss' for the Birds:

The Minnesota Vikings have signed free agent S Mike Doss, a 5th-year NFL veteran who spent the opening 4 seasons of his NFL career with Indianapolis.

Doss has started 42 of the 46 career regular season games he has played and 2 of the 5 career playoff games he has been in. Originally a 2nd-round pick by the Colts in 2003, Doss was the 58th overall player selected. During his tenure with Indianapolis he played under current Vikings Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier.

Doss has been a part of a winning tradition in Indianapolis, going 38-13 in the games he has played for the Colts and the franchise has won the past 4 AFC South titles. Doss played the opening 6 games of 2006 with 4 starts before being sidelined with a knee injury as the Colts went on to win Super Bowl XLI. He has 8 career interceptions including playoffs.

As a collegiate player at Ohio State, Doss was named the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2002 as part of the Buckeye's national title team along with being a consensus All-America and a semi-finalist for the Thorpe Award as the top collegiate defensive back in the country.

"Mike has been a winner throughout his career and he gives us a veteran presence," said Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress. "It's always important to add quality football players to the roster. He's won a national championship and been part of a Super Bowl winner, that's experience you can't take for granted."
