Double Standard... Seeing Is Believing...

I absolutely agree with the bolded part of your post. If your contention is that there is bad refereeing in general across the league, I wholeheartedly agree with you.

However, to not only forward the theory but dogmatically believe (not saying you are, but others on the thread certainly have) that all the refs across the league have conspired with the help of the NFL to purposely be biased against the Dallas Cowboys is not the simplest answer.

Undisciplined teams commit lots of penalties. That's what the Cowboys are and that's what they do.

Every team that commits a high number of penalties (for example the Packers last season) can claim the refs are being unfairly biased against them.

To do so is to disavow them of any responsibility of wrongdoing.

As to what the explanation for the disparity in penalties between the Cowboys and their opponents. This goes back to your original point of looking for the simplest answer.

The simplest asnwer is the Cowboys are committing more penalties than their opponents during the games. Nothing more, nothing less.

Those pointing to the apparent disparity in penalties are effectively saying nothing.

Another point I'll agree with you on is the Cowboys undisciplined play creates a reputation that causes refs to watch certain players closer. For example Mike Jenkins is doing damage to his reputation with his play of late. However, it doesn't mean they are calling phantom calls against him, rather he's not getting the close calls anymore.

This times 100

Carl Johnson was saying the refs are given an explanation or guideline of what is and isn't a penalty. When he said the refs aren't there to "interpret" the intent, he's saying the refs aren't there to make a judgemental interpretation of why (intent) you went to the ground (ie. by accident...for celebration...et cetera).

Plain and simple, Colombo went to the ground.

It's not the refs jobs to interpret whether it was intentional or not, they are to only address what actually did happen ie. going to the ground.

Is it anal and open to criticism? Absolutely and I'll join my fellow fans in ridiculing the vaguery of it.

Was it the wrong call according to the predetermined guidelines? Absolutely not.

No Carl Johnson lied the real pealty is you can't celebrate WHILE ON THE GROWN not the BS he said

I think in part it's Goodell. He influences the Referees. The guys a dictator. Somewhere along the way Jerry must Peed in his Wheates. Goodell has his favored owners(I,e Kraft-close friend). Most penalty calls are very subjective, we are a team that’s being targeted. Thinking back we had a known disciplinarian-Parcells and we were still at the top of the league in penalties.. Goodell gota go, he’s bad for football.

He will obviously ignore this post. It's the same with all those posters that are denying that the refs are biased. They just say "just play better", "every team gets bad calls", etc.

For some reason, none of them takes a look at the stats. What makes other teams commit less penalites against us??? Is there any explanation to this?

This is what strikes me the most about this season. I can understand that we are an undisciplined team that commits a lot of penalites, etc. etc. But there is nothing that can explain other teams "magically" commiting less penalties against us week after week.

Exactly !
