I mentioned it last week mostly due to my frustration around them not using Rico but now I literally don't care who you get in there. They need to get their two best blocking TEs in there proto.
For you all 22 guys. PLEASE watch Tyron Smith. He was getting his but absolutely whipped yesterday. He's not the same guy I recall before the back issues. I mean absolutely whipped. When you watch the all 22, you'll probably see him credited for at least two sacks.
My point here is that Dak wasn't getting sacked up the middle. Looney has actually been pretty solid. With the lone exception where he was bull rushed back into Dak's lap in less that a half second, Connor has been ok too. Those sacks were coming off of the corners.
This is all coaching man... I know our QB is not without any blame at all but we owe it to him to at least give him a clean pocket regularly from which to operate. If you're getting sacked form the ends go double TE! Wow. Why can't our coaches make these types of adjustments on the fly? I kept looking for it. I could see it from the comfort of my couch. Single tight spread.. single tight spread.. single tight spread..... Jesus... Go double tight!
I'm no expert by any means but going double TE allows you to widen the front which immediately gives your OTs options and calms those DEs down because now they can be bumped off of the line by thr TEs. You also have more of a threat in the middle of the field which makes the LBs play honest. Complete a few passes from that formation and now Zeke even finds paydirt from the same formation.
I just don't get why they won't use it. We kept 4TEs for a reason. Yet I still and wondering when (if ever) we will use double TE.
As I said, watch the all 22. I don't have to. I saw it with my own eyes. It just isn't try same Tyron out there any more and that position is always your QBs most important protector.
