The team has many needs, but is right tackle overlooked? We all see it as a problem, but in most mocks there is no tackle taken or signed. Doug Free is not exactly good, he is definitely the weak link. He commits too many penalties and often gets beat. Can we afford to use him for another year or not? There aren't many fa tackles that would make sense and if we draft one in the later rounds is it really an improvement. I just hope Chaz Green is good.

If you would have asked at the mid-point of the season I would have said that RT was going to be a concern going into 2016 and it would be questionable if Free was even retained.

HOWEVER...

The in the last half of the season Free turned it around. He ended up the 27th best OT per PFF, which jives with what I saw the last half the season. There were times when he was very good.

Just for comparison, Parnell was rated the 43rd best OT per PFF.

At this point I would think Free would be retained and it would be hoped that Green shows something in training camp.

That being said I would like to see another OT drafted at some point... maybe with one of the 6th round picks.

I think some people want 5 all pro's on the line... Not financially doable...

Free still had 8 false starts and I would be ok with his penalties if he was a pro bowler, but he commits these penalties and then will get beat for a sack.

It's not just financially not doable, you can't keep throwing high-end resources at it also, i.e. early round draft picks. Eventually the rest of the car erodes and that's what's happened with the secondary. Not say the Cowboys need to spend a 1st round pick on a secondary person in a couple months, but certainly some kind of investment via free agency and draft picks is needed.

The same conversation could be applied to the QB spot.

He's not as bad as people like to make him out to be...plus the coaching staff would say he brings more to the team then what you see on the field.

Sure, a younger upgrade would be nice, but it's pretty far down the list of needs as far as I'm concerned
